So is this like Seiken Densetsu 3 where everyone has the same overarching story and everyone has their own thing they want to accomplish at the same time, a couple join, and they interact minimally? Or more like Romancing Saga 3 where everyone's story is completely different and character crossover is usually limited to a cameo?

More like Seiken, except EVERYONE joins, and interactions are limited to Tales Of style party chats.

Game's still loving awesome.

Plus job switching, and not having to start over when you finish one story.

I am very happy about the fact that all three characters I voted for are in the top spot. Even if I wanted to see Tressa's story first.

I'm assuming the order will be 1st place first, 2nd place second, and so on? Because, if so, perhaps Tressa after Primrose would be appropriate given what people are saying about the latter's story.

I’m probably just going to do a vote after a chapter for each remaining character and go with that formula the entire LP, with the only restrictions being we have to do all Chapter 1’s before a Chapter 2, and so on.

Also I’m still mulling saving the main’s Chapter 4 for last, but that one may also depend on who’s the main since some characters’ final chapters cap things better than others. Regardless I have a long time until I have to worry about that.

Everything happens at the same time but the stories are largely self-contained, so the party travels to merchantcity because Tressa might have business there and then to mountainburg because Primrose needs to shank a dude etc.
The order is up to the player.

At least it’s tied to a character who’s also pretty good in combat.

Though, really, the only character I outright dislike from a gameplay perspective is H’aanit, due to how much of a pain in the rear end her gimmick is... and how the game practically strongarms you into having to use it if you want to advance her storyline.

What's he up to now? Hard to say since we're not telling him what to do.
H'aanit owns. Hunter is a great base class, Capture is very strong early game and is only required Ike twice in her entire story, and her story is good.

It took me 20 minutes to read the character post because after listening to the opening track I knew I had to click every single music link.

Also I voted Tressa based on her theme and the idea of 18 year old Recettear going out in the world for the glory of capitalism.

Forgot I woke up early today so the winner is...

nice

Works for me, since I get to show off Scrutinize early, get free weaknesses exposed, and will have easy access to a passive to reduce enemy encounters, which will be nice for keeping my levels low so I can't cheese everything easily and have to use more strategy. Plus it's a nice and goofy way to kick off the LP.

Will get started later today!

Wearer of Compasses. Slayer of Gods. Champion of the Colosseum. Heart of the Void.
Saviour of Hallownest.
I am happy that the four most popular characters are my A team.

Not a huge spoiler, but speculation about the stated story path of the LP:

I would suggest though given the Cyrus pick that doing his ending last might make the final chapters feel less coherent than they actually are?

IT IS SAID THE TEARS OF THE BWEENIX CAN HEAL ALL WOUNDS

So I started the demo, and then reread your post and saw the "there's no overarching story" and now I kinda don't want to play the game anymore. It feels like they took FF6 or some other RPGs of that era and just...took out the story. Without spoiling it, is it possible to play the game and actually care about what's going on? Or is the game really just compelling for the gorgeous music, nice graphics, and good battle system? (which, I will admit, are all compelling reasons to play a game)

(I'm not trying to be antagonistic, I really want an answer before I actually buy the game)

ZeButler

Yes, it is possible to care about what's going on, because all of the stories are compelling in their own right, the side quests are interesting, surprisingly, and you quickly grow to love the main party, because they're a bunch of dorks, trying to pretend they aren't dorks.

Each character is a story unto themselves, but they're all linked together in ways that will be revealed. It's less of an overarching "Defeat the evil empire!" story and more of an underlying "So this is the story all about how..." story connecting everything.

drat, I missed the poll, but at least I didn't miss the first real update!

My friend absolutely adores this game, but I don't have the money for a Switch, so I'm going to be watching the hell out of this to see everything I can so I can talk to her about how good this game is.

First impressions are that I'm loving that all of the classes are basically ye olde FF jobs, including Scholar being able to scan enemy weaknesses As Well As cast the right magic on them.

I once said that if Alchemist doesn't have Mix I'd be sorely disappointed; glad to see Concoct is straight up right there.

To be fair, both of those are the characters' innate Talents, which are separate from the Class skills.

This isn't an important distinction right now, but will be much later.
