CornHolio posted:Well I got a text at 1:30 in the morning informing me that they were taking my dad to the ER by ambulance because he couldn't breathe. So sorry man. I'm worried my dads heading that way - 83, smoked all his life, COPD, and just got diagnosed with lung cancer. We're waiting to find out what exact kind and treatment options, but I have a feeling He won't make it to 84. Sucks. Rant as needed if you need support man, AI may be full of assholes, but we're nice assholes.

Pretty ballin Fridge Corn - congrats! And, in light of yesterday - this is intense: https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1042879/world-war-one-remembrance-day-recording-guns-silent-armistice-1918 Really brings 100 years of history down to a small recording. Really hope the world can remember how lovely losing entire generations of young men can be.

tetrapyloctomy posted:People definitely get attached to their culture. I don't understand why people get huffy about this stuff ("If its sweet, its cake!") -- I definitely have some attachment to the foods I grew up with, but it is just so very awesome to live in a metropolitan area with so many different cultures and foods. Sorry bro, that's not a pot pie :P Fight me Its a pot pie because the pie crust makes its own pot around the fillings. Can be beef, pork or chicken (hell, even saw a clam chowder one once...wasn't ballsy enough to try it though). But the crust has to envelope the fillings so it all cooks in its own juicy awesomeness.

tetrapyloctomy posted:It's a bastardization of a German word (much like the "Dutch" in "Pennsylvania Dutch" itself), and we wouldn't call it "a pot pie," just "pot pie." And I don't care, it's delicious, you should try it. =D Food is great. Try all the food. Hahah no worries, I'd try it. I eat everything, I loving love food. I'm just going to poke fun at people calling things wrong (and yes, that's subjective, but pretending I don't know that really riles some people up, and I like trolling folks) fridge corn posted:Over here that's just called pie And another wrong answer :P (but in all seriousness, is pie generic for sweet or savoury - aka apple pie and a chicken pie? or do you have some other wordage for a sweet/dessert pie?)

CAT INTERCEPTOR posted:Well. The last couple of weeks have been gooooood. The Canadian loved Australia and she REALLY loved the WRC. She was hooked as soon as a Audi S1 howled into view Nice! IIRC - west coast, aka Vancouver(ish)? Great spot. Enjoy it. Go skiing in the Rockies if you can while you are here - not a huge trip, 110% worth it.

ilkhan posted:These days? Bull loving poo poo. Liberal snowflakes and the liberal administrator enablers have shredded that concept to oblivion. I'm left as it gets, and I agree with that? The people that are pushing the university/college agenda seem to be the right-wing "PUSH MOAR BUTTONS DRONE! SHAREHOLDERS DEMAND MORE VALUE". Up here in my northern socialist paradise, trade schools are pushed heavily - there was a while they weren't, but the last 2 decades has seen a resurgence. At least in rural areas.

Somewhat Heroic posted:I am embarrassed to admit but that is actually our second tree. We have a more traditional one in the front room. I told my wife we did not need a second tree but it is apparent how that conversation ended. I have a tree inside...and wife wants to go cut one down for outside. Who am I to object to a chance to be manly and cut down a tree to make my wife happy?
