I used to post on 4chan when I was in high school in the early 2000s. it started going to poo poo shortly afterwards so I ended up spending more time lurking on SA, ED, YTMND, Newgrounds, all the other typical nerd haunts. 4chan was never  good per se, but in its heyday it was like a mad science lab of internet culture where everyone was constantly spitballing, some of it was funny, nothing was off limits, and thread turnaround was fast as hell so you could have a good time just browsing the constantly shifting mass of insanity and shitposting. then it became a thing where everyone started just parroting poo poo instead of trying to make original content, to the point where the existence of the mythical original content became a joke in itself, and then came lolcats which heralded the death of what meager value was left in that culture

i found sa and lurked way early, i want to say i found out about the forums thru an everquest guild in like 2001, but i lurked/barely gave a poo poo, and 4chan felt like it kind of had that kind of creative energy that made SA worth lurking and reading, but with no $10 cost + the need to hide from the ire of blue and red stars that not only banned people for missing punctuation but seemed to legitimately get off on it. so i'd been posting there like a year or so when i regged here. Yeah it was pretty good. Stupid but good. I wanna say it was worth its negatives until as late as 2011 or so, but moot was a loving moron for letting /int/ / /pol/ fester, since that is ultimately the mistake that's given us what 4chan currently is. Those shitbirds are super revisionist over there and think it was always like it is now, but it's really not. The thing is, everyone who posted there in its heydey is long gone and left it to a bunch of baby nazis with a bunch of culture artifacts that they don't understand/constantly misuse. I would have liked to have seen moot just close 4chan when he was done with it, but I understand him wanting to cash out on the years of misery that place must've inflicted on him, especially towards the end when he realized he incubated the birth of crypto nazis was probably not a great feeling.

It's weird going on /b/ 10 years later and seeing the same jokes and threads, even the same porn will appear sometimes It's like a time capsule, but then you get really racist threads. I think 4chan is a bot training ground used for MKULTRA. Lots of blacked porn, tranny porn, porn emasculating men, cuck porn, gore. All these common threads that keep popping up trying to influence the people who visit that site. Then you realize that people are young kids going on that site, if some of the threads are real, they are kids having trouble with school and common everyday life.
