SASCAR WINTER HEAT/MOTOR MADNESS We had a thread for this but it...got locked, oops. Again. Let's try this again. What Is This Dumb Thing? We've reached the end of the racing season, which means we'll be looking for something to do during the dark ages of late November-late January when racing doesn't happen. In 2012 or 2013, we set up our own Synchtube channel, which migrated over to CyTube, to gather and watch old racing and other miscellaneous fun stuff like The Darts. Think PSP.tv, just for auto racing instead of wrasslin' (though wrasslin' bumpers do cross over to this channel). The channel got popular enough that we made it a regular offseason thing and it expanded into a year-round hangout as well. The name, Winter Heat, is a nod to ESPN's actual Winter racing programming in the 1990s. What Do We Watch In Winter Heat? -NASCAR -ARCA -IndyCar/IRL/CART -Dirt track racin' (WoO, etc.) -Local racing action -Trailer/Figure 8 racing -NHRA -Racing documentaries -Demolition derbies -Power Wheels demolition derbies -Extreme Barbie Power Wheels Downhill Racing -Other randomness people post There's no real schedule, so look for the thread to be bumped for potential programming! Or, have stuff you want to watch? Post itt with some lead time so people have advance notice and go wild. Many of the nights are impromptu, but I'd considered putting together a weekly CART lookback series like MassRafTer does with WCW in Twitch We also had longtime racing goon financially racist (formerly cannotfindserver) who did a Twitch stream of NASCAR Dirt to Daytona and NASCAR Thunder 2003 one time and it was fun to watch. Between the race and Twitter slapfights (I'm not making this up), it was an insanely fun enough event that we've turned it into the centerpiece of a Christmas night playlist bracketed by the most insane racing-related Christmas stuff the internet has ever produced. TONIGHT...New Hampshire Motor Speedway lost its fall dates for the top 3 NASCAR touring series to Las Vegas this year but, not to be totally shut out, they came up with a great idea, and tonight we watch it. What is "it"? The longest race in NASCAR Whelen Modified Series history, the Musket 250. Who wins that glorious LOBSTAH or...a musket or generic trophy that says "Good job, dummy, you won" on it? Alright, there's been some talk of watching the three magical, regional touring series races run on the backstretch at Daytona in 2013 (and maybe the 2014 ones at some point), the name of which I keep confusing with a WCW PPV. So, what works for you? This race each year may become The Winter Heat Christmas Special. There's lots of material for a drinking game, too: Sip: -Every time the name "Tunny" is uttered. -More than one grammatical error in a Tweet shown on-screen (you're/your, there/their/they're, etc). -Crash caused by a stalled car in the crossover involving said stalled car. Drink: -Red flag -Any time the PBP announcer says any variant of "Tip toe". -Any time the PBP announcer gets defensive at an insulting Tweet. -A Tweet suggests a celebrity who is not in this race can win. Chug/take a shot: -Any time a Twitter slapfight emerges between viewers from the live Tweets LBTV shows during cautions. -Any time the PBP announcer makes a reference which could be construed as sexual. -8+ car wreck. -If any safety vehicle stalls. -Crash caused by a stalled car in the crossover NOT involving said stalled car. Since it's going to snow like hell where I live and I saw some suggestion of watching videos Friday or Saturday last night, how about a two-night Battle at the Beach event tonight and tomorrow? We may only have one main event for each night, as it looks like the Mod race was yanked from YouTube, but we would still have late models and K&N.

We barely showed anything I had planned last night and, to be honest, it was glorious and way better. Big thanks to the hivemind for finding stuff more entertaining such as democross and backwards drag racing. In fact, it was so good that I'm going to run the same playlist again tonight, with a few other things added. The only difference is main event will be highlights of the 2013 Daytona Mod race and the K&N race in its entirety but, first, backwards drag racing and run what you brung. 8PM Eastern.

So, with now 8 Cup races affected (Atlanta, Homestead, Texas, Bristol, Richmond, Dover), plus Long Beach getting axed, we ain't racin' for a while. With that in mind, the idea floated in chat and Discord was to make Sunday's show (run old races from the previously-scheduled venue(s) that weekend or nearby tracks) a regular thing. I'm game to go ahead with this. We'll pick a race or two just as WindyMan did yesterday with Road Atlanta and St. Pete and go from there. Additionally, hunnert car pileup wanted to do a two-wheel Tuesday or Thursday, which I'm down for; we didn't watch the Miami race he posted there yesterday, so we can start with that. And, we figured out we can stream Twitch in the channel, so we can continue doing any iRacing streams.
