I hope we see something with some guys getting in on that soon. With other guys, I mean. Not Catra and Adora.

Yeah I know I'd have a much better relationship with my sexuality now if I'd had a single positive and healthy example of a gay romance growing up, instead of endless amounts of casual homophobia.

Make he man and skeletor kiss, is what I'm saying. "Don't you get it Adam? I love you, I always have, ha ha ha ha!"

Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Regular Show, Adventure Time etc. all have a lot going on to the point where grown adults are writing 5000 word treatise about single episodes and comparing it to philosophy or classic literature and they're not exactly wrong about it.

Surely if SA has taught you anything, it's that adults writing 5000 word treatises on a topic on the internet doesn't mean that the topic has any inherent value or merit.

I do get your point though, the US industry has moved forward a lot. Although I think it's important to also note that even with these improvements in storytelling, a lot of the writing in these shows is identifiably done with children in mind. For example, all of these shows have some episodes with very straightforward "character X learns to tell their friends when they are having problems rather than deal with the problems alone" plots. A huge chunk of Steven Universe is episodes teaching basic emotional literacy to children. That series is a classic, but I think even with the depth of narrative in these stories, it's this kind of writing that makes it a 'kids show'.

Was Adora sent through time as well as space? Whenever Horde Prime talked about the First Ones it made it seem like they'd all been dead for a long time, and Mara lived 1000 years before the start of the series or something, right?

I forgot about the lack of object permanence but lol yeah She-Ra is a great show but absolutely loaded with scenes where people don't pick up objects and are suddenly carrying them again in the next shot.

Yeah I don't think the show is a 1:1 metaphor for anything as much as it is fiction that contains a lot of deliberate commonalities with certain real-world things. Which is very normal for fiction.
