C season, B+ finale. Kind of a let down after three extremely well-paced and plotted seasons; felt like they had too much to wrap up in just one more season and it feels like that was pretty much the case. Plenty of spoilery complaints, but special shout-out to (final episode spoilers) Catra's final plea being to Adora to "stay, just once." The problem was never Adora not choosing to stay with their abusive mom(?) and fascist army, and it really gives away the game that the show genuinely feels like Catra did nothing wrong. In retrospect, probably should've started the Catra redemption in S4 rather than giving us a whole season of her alienating literally everyone around her.

even if you want to read the show's genre stuff as merely metaphors for more realistic drama (and I think the show really tries to have its cake and eat it too on that point in the writing), I think it's pretty interesting that Scorpia (who's more or less straightforwardly emotionally abused and has her self-confidence destroyed by Catra on the non-fantastical level of the story, a subplot that gets its own musical number this season) and Entrapta (it's hard to read this one non-literally it's kind of just attempted murder) pretty much have to be kind and forgive Catra outright for the arc to work at all. I think we honest to God spend more time this season complaining that Entrapta likes robots than dealing with Catra's relationship to anyone else other than Adora, which is a lame payoff for the four seasons she spends interacting with non-Adora characters.
