If I turn on a sports network and they do not have the chyron dominated by a timer and minute by minute coverage of the Nylander Decision then they have completely failed at their job.

Good idea by the league reducing Wilson's last suspension. It meant that they could get him kicked out for the rest of the season ever sooner!

Charlie has a pretty deep recap of the small presser Ron Hextall gave yesterday

TL/DR: He flat out refused to sell prospects for a 30+ year old plug. He knew he gambled on not replacing Neuvy but seems to maintain he couldn't find a good short-term replacement for the money. He's a huge math nerd and liked analytics but wasn't sure of how hard to rely on them. He knows he should have fired Laperriere and tried to sign Daniel Winnik as PK help. He seemed to have no interest in bringing Simmonds back after this year. Adamant that Hakstol is a good and well-respected coach, but knows he should have shook up the staff below him.

He'll probably land somewhere soon enough and do well. He seems to know that since this was his first job as full GM, it was always going to be a bit rocky, especially when it's with a team like Philadelphia.

It’s probably not easy to try and be a responsible NHL GM working for a guy who used to be an NHL GM that would literally spend to 2x the salary cap if it were allowed. I hope Holmgren anoints himself.

Cap’s gone up 5% since Pasta signed his deal and his point totals at that point were pretty close, so the comparison is there. It’s not like nobody has been aware that ~$7M was probably going to get this thing done.

It's not William Nylander's fault that Pastrnak took a giant discount from what he's worth.

I still feel like Ehlers is a better comp and Ehler’s numbers are slightly better. The Leafs should just let him stew in his own arrogance for the rest of the year.

Official vocab guidelines state we no longer refer to these incidents as accidents, they’re now collisions

“Hey, why can’t we say “accident” again?”

Because “accident” implies there’s nobody to blame.

The Sabres have also been down 2 of their top 4 defenseman the last 2 games. McCabe has been pretty great this season and Scandella has regressed a bit but having him out is noticeable in a bad way.

The line combinations have been terrible the last 2 games as well. Housely made an abortion of a line out of Berglund, Sobotka, Pominville. Berglund has been productive with Larsson and Girgensons. Pominville has been productive with Eichel and Skinner. Sobotka at least looked ok with E-rod and okposo. It's all about opportunity cost, those 3 guys are our 3 worst players but they look like decent nhl capable players on those lines i listed. When you put them all on one line together they are not nhl capable.

Tampa had to give it everything they've got to put the Sabres away 5-4. Sabres even had the lead twice.

The Panthers always bring their A game against the Sabres and we still got a point.

I'm fine with losing to NSH as long as we look decent doing it and as long as we beat the leafs the day after.

Rest up Sabres and get healthy.

The line juggling has confused me the most. Skinner-Eichel-Pominville was producing so well but then he swapped Pommers for Reinhart because...? Pominville was invisible the last few games and has been getting very few minutes. I really don’t know what Housley is thinking. I get that Tage Thompson scored a few good goals and plays a strong physical game but he isn’t really that good yet and probably doesn’t deserve more minutes than a proven player like Pommers.

Nylander asked Draisitl how he got paid 8.5m when comparable players were making six and change. Draisitl told him that while growing up, he practiced saying six million wasn't enough.
