Charlie has a pretty deep recap of the small presser Ron Hextall gave yesterday TL/DR: He flat out refused to sell prospects for a 30+ year old plug. He knew he gambled on not replacing Neuvy but seems to maintain he couldn't find a good short-term replacement for the money. He's a huge math nerd and liked analytics but wasn't sure of how hard to rely on them. He knows he should have fired Laperriere and tried to sign Daniel Winnik as PK help. He seemed to have no interest in bringing Simmonds back after this year. Adamant that Hakstol is a good and well-respected coach, but knows he should have shook up the staff below him. He'll probably land somewhere soon enough and do well. He seems to know that since this was his first job as full GM, it was always going to be a bit rocky, especially when it's with a team like Philadelphia. It’s probably not easy to try and be a responsible NHL GM working for a guy who used to be an NHL GM that would literally spend to 2x the salary cap if it were allowed. I hope Holmgren anoints himself.

Sign and trade or he's sitting out. Also he probably should only be making like 7 max but guys like Pasta and Johnny Hockey got severely underpaid so can't fault a guy for trying to make his money in a career where one bad hit can scramble you for life
