It's December, it's dark, it's cold, but at least I know that Drag Race will be back in January so... IT'S BACK NOW?????  IT'S ALL-STARS 4 BITCHES! Previously on Season 10 of RuPaul's Drag Race... Get these cookies, baby!                 And in the end the winner was      Aquaria, long may she reign! Deep in our hearts, no matter who you were pulling for (#TeamAsia), you knew Aquaria was the front-runner for the crown. She was never in the bottom two, her looks were always stunning, she surprised the hell our of us during the Snatch Game, and easily won the final LSFYL. She earned it. The season as a whole really felt like a return to form. We had the Miss Vangie insanity to start, we were introduced to wonderful personalities, there were some excellent LSFYLs that deserve to be remembered, and the show just felt fun again. (The Vixen was right.) And then there was the Finale. We all knew that people were going to try and out-reveal Sasha Velour but omg this was loving ridiculous. So many reveals, and so many of them were completely pointless. At least Aquaria's stayed in one outfit for the final performance. This is where I talk about Asia and her butterflies, but I need some time to do this right. I'll fill this in during the next couple of days. Heartbreaking for her, but it did give us this so...  it's a net positive?  Thank you, Queens, for a great season.

What is RuPaul's Drag Race? I've never watched it. RuPaul's Drag Race is a competitive reality show where Drag Queens compete in a series of challenges to prove that they have the Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent to be crowned the Next Drag Superstar and win a lot of money. Episodes are pretty typical for the format: The girls complete in a mini-challenge that usually gives the winner(s) some kind of advantage, a main challenge which can be anything from building costumes to acting to putting civilians in drag, and finally a runway show. After speaking with the judges a winner is chosen who may or may not gain immunity for the following week. Meanhile, the queens deemed to be in the Bottom Two battle it out in the Lip Sync... For Your Life!  Ru judges the LSFYL and the loser goes home.Or... that's what happens in a normal season. This is [i]All-Stars[i]. The rules change slightly each year. AS1 had a ridiculous Teams component and seemed designed to give Chad Michaels a Crown. (I'm not complaining.) AS2 introduced the Lip Sync For Your Legacy, where the Top 2 Queens battled for $10K and the right to send one of the Bottom Two home. AS3 took AS2 and added a Jury (Shangela was robbed). We've gone from Ru making the final decisions and instead we have Drag Queen Survivor, but no one has really played the strategic game yet. I can't wait for someone to kick off one of the really popular queens, I NEED THIS. We can nitpick the show all we like but it's a joy to watch. The important thing to keep in mind is that these girls are professional Drag Queens. They know how to speak, put on a show, throw shade, and give us the cutting one-liners in the confessionals that we expect. In normal seasons just getting cast is the victory because it means that for the next year those Queens are going to be in high demand. It's up to them to capitalize on it, but making it on the show is a great boost to their career. We don't have to worry about people being exploited for bad TV, because all of these Queens should know what they are doing at this point. All-Stars is just an extension of that, and a chance to improve their feeds as they perform around the world. If the system follows past years, we'll start with The Library followed by a Talent Show where the Queens get a chance to show off their strengths. One will be eliminated, and then we'll continue. Other challenges include: - Singing challenges - Choreography - Dress construction - Acting challenges - Makeup challenges - Makeovers for non-drag queens - Hot guys in underwear - Etc. In the couple of years they've gone away from the "shoot a RuPaul music video" final challenge to writing/recording/performing individual verses for Ru song. Much more palatable, and occasionally we get gold like "I'm Roxxxy Andrews and I'm here to make it clear."  No Untucked for All-Stars, but that's fine because we get some fun plotting/dramatic choosing of lipsticks. On Spoilers  Unlike AS2, there are no major leaks that I know of but then again I stay off of Reddit. Just be aware that fans are crazy about the show, and once the episode is aired for reviews the day of broadcast you can easily find the results. Watch yourself and be careful out there. As always, if you can't watch live on Fridays then stay off of social media until you have a chance to catch up if you are a spoilerphobe like me. The winner of the show is picked by Ru. The person who is kicked off each week is picked by Ru. This is Ru's baby. It exists to give glory to Ru and help sell her albums (now on iTunes). You thought it was bad to ignore Tim Gunn? DON'T IGNORE RU. Yes, Ru has been problematic at times. No one denies this, and she deserves to the called out when warranted, but she has also helped to create this show that lets these Queens make a living doing Drag and has really influenced the culture. I expect Ru will say something stupid again in the next year, but the show remains. The rest of the main judges:  Michelle Visage  (That picture still is everything forever.) Every once in a while I remember that Michelle wasn't an original judge on the show and I have to pause and collect my wits. The show started to take off once Michelle replaced Merle. Coincidence? If Ru is the Mother, then Michelle is the stern Aunt. Michelle wants all of the queens to reach their potential, so she's willing to be harsh but it always comes from a place of live. She's been friends with RuPaul forever, co-hosted with Ru on her VH1 talk show, has been a more than welcome addition to the judging panel since the third season, and is the one who really goes on the road with the queens to help push the brand. I can get where Willam was coming from re: Gia's performance, but I don't buy it. This is a talent show, this is chance to show your skills (in one minute  ), so Gia doing traditional Kabuki worked for me. Should she have been in the Top 2? I'd say no because I don't think the performance was good enough, but under no circumstances would that performance have put her in danger of being in the bottom two.tbh, I'd rank Gia's performance above Latrice's.
