I really liked Shot Caller too. Cell Block 99 really has some slow rear end parts I don’t care for. I prefer Christian Bales mustache to Kurt Russell’s

Untrustable posted:Bone Tomahawk and Brawl in Cell Block 99 are fantastic. I haven't seen anything past those. I thought Zahler would be a cool new horror director but apparently he's just gone kinda poo poo? Saulnier and Bruckner are our brightest hopes for the future. Regarding Zahler, I know some left-of-Bernie horror fans that never picked up on the themes in Zahler's work. I guess I didn't either until Dragged because two data points isn't really enough to establish a trend, but 3-4, that's a chud.

Plenty of people like Bone Tomahawk and Brawl in Cell Block 99, liking his work doesn't make you a bad person or anything, but there's a clear pattern to his work and the people he chooses to work for and it's increasingly impossible to pretend it's all a big harmless coincidence. flashy_mcflash posted:Saulnier and Bruckner are our brightest hopes for the future. veni veni veni posted:Event Horizon. It's not actually a bad movie, in fact I like it. But conceptually it's just much cooler than the slightly better than a Sci Fi original quality of the film. I feel with some better production values and direction it would be a classic. I've been saying for years it could use a remake. Which is something I rarely want from any film. Looks like you might be getting your wish
