I find the (early, 1-3) Paranormal Activity films to be fairly scary as there’s elements in there which take strongly from real life accounts of hauntings.

I haven’t seen the Marked Ones, but apparently that’s alright?

Stryder posted:Plus, like a lot of zombie movies, logic goes right out the window when they needed to move the plot forward. Fun story, I once wrote a zombie movie script for some people who came to me with the smallest of plot ideas, and I expanded it out. This was about 10 years ago when zombies were riding the crest of their popularity wave, and I hated it because they were absolutely everywhere. My first bare bones draft came back with the note that virtually no-one died, save for the villain and the roaming undead. I quickly realised that I’d made my ragtag group of survivors all too sensible, and subsequently had to dumb a few of them down so they could get picked off.

I watched the first episode, with Kumail Nanjiani, and its worst crime was that it was achingly dull, and got the twist across within minutes. But then you have to sit through the rest of the episode as it all plays out glacially slowly.
