Nope. Why is this an option?

The developers answered that when they were added, actually. A certain strand of the Trek fandom likes the Pakleds, and Cryptic wanted to show them improving. There are Pakled NPCs in the game, and their dialogue is no different from anyone else's. Cryptic really does try to make races more than just their stereotype in STO.

because I want to see how the hell the game handles Ferengi women's lib. I expect the answer is badly, but still.

For the uninitiated: Ferengi women have traditionally not allowed to work, be seen, or wear clothes. Trek generally treats this as a funny joke.

There is, actually! It's just very rare and only applies to two races in the entire game: Vulcans and Remans. Vulcans every once in a while get some unique dialogue to be all logical and express familiarity with concepts like mind melds. Remans occasionally get special dialogue when interacting with other Remans during the Romulan story, and open a whole new path in one particular mission that awards a unique Reman achievement.

Off the top of my head, Vulcans have unique dialogue in:

* The Fed (and Discovery) tutorial, where Flores pokes fun at you for being all logical, and you give a different toast to the cadets.

* The mission with the ambassador at Vulcan has the monks happier to see you and trust you more readily if you're a Vulcan.

* In the mission Mindscape where you mind meld with REDACTED, a Vulcan captain is familiar with how mind melds work and skips all the exposition.

Also, Joined Trill can be bought as a playable option with zen in the z-store for anyone who is so inclined - and they can be in the Klingon Empire. Other races in the z-store include Remans (they can be unlocked in-game through another method, though, and come with letting you use the unique Reman skins on Romulan ships), Klingons in the Federation faction, Jem'Hadar Vanguard (look exactly like regular Jem'hadar but mechanically better in every way), Caitians (a race of cat people, best known for Lieutenant M'Ress in The Animated Series), and Ferasans (Klingon-aligned cat people, invented for this game but clearly standing in for the Kzinti, which were also in the Animated Series and had concept art for Enterprise season five).

It should be mentioned that the reason there's a race standing in for the Kzinti is because the Animated Series didn't create them; they're immigrants from Larry Niven's Ringworld series of books. The Kzinti in the Animated Series seems to be because Niven wrote a few episodes for the series. Presumably even though he technically added them to Star Trek "canon" when he did, nobody can use them without his permission.

On the one hand, yes, Worf was there to give the most violent option available, but his job was the Enterprise's chief of security. He has to protect the Enterprise and her crew from all threats, within and without, and sometimes you just need to set your phaser to "Shake-and-Bake." (After all, it was Gowron who quoted an ancient Klingon proverb, "Act, and you shall have dinner. Think, and you shall be dinner!")

On the other hand, Worf's constant "Kill it." "No, Worf, let's think this over first." "(WORF GETS BEATEN LIKE A GONG)" cycle gave us Worf Gets Denied Over and Over Again. Michael Dorn saw this and he mentioned at a convention that he loved it.

That was the thing that burned me the most about Enterprise getting axed when it did. Sharn was going to become a series regular and be assigned to the NX-01 as an Andorian liaison like T’Pol was for Vulcan as the proto-Federation slowly came together.

E: Also I’m glad Enterprise moved away from old rear end men Androians and started casting more telegenic people because it really helped sell the founding four species of the Federation as the sci-fi version of the standard fantasy four race ensemble: Human, Elf (Vulcan), Dwarf (Tellarite), and Fey (Andorian).

One of the few good things about the Discovery starting sequence in STO is that it added to the game Shran's identical grandson still voiced by Jeffrey Combs who was also brought forward into the future to be a recurring character because Jeffrey Combs makes everything better.

Though I'd call the Andorians more orcs than fey. They're a militant culture, highly aggressive, and have a strong warrior ethos and sense of honor. Most Trek EU stuff has played with Andorians being a very passionate race, great warriors but also great artists, with the University of Andoria being the Federation's most prestigious institute of the arts.

I have plans for the Starfleet first officer, who will be a human of the opposite gender as the captain, if people are worried about gender balance. Also, the Starfleet captain will also have a tactical background, not for any story reason but because it's the best class in the game (and not in a "other classes are hard to play well" way, but in an "objectively higher numbers" way).

And historically, arch-enemies of the Vulcans. Race that embraces cool-headed logic versus race that embraces their passions and joys, desert worlders (actually Vulcan used to be quite verdant until the Vulcans blew it up) versus ice worlders (a moon of a gas giant technically), 'peaceful' race that merely armed its research ships as defense against pirates versus militant empire, etc.

Then the humans got them both to play nice when the Romulans started threatening them both. And were also threatening the Tellarites but even Enterprise didn't pay much attention to the vaguely porcine space dwarves.

STO's taken a liking to the Andorians, and of all the Federation's member races, it's the Andorians who have contributed more uniquely Andorian ships to the roster of playable vessels than any other. There's the one Vulcan ship, one Tellarite ship, and a couple of Caitian ships, then a growing pile of Andorian fast attack escorts.

I'll join the Andorian female vote with a note that we could perhaps have a female Ferengi first officer? My main issue with a female Ferengi main is that the thread is going to get really sick of the obvious skeezy jokes really fast. That stuff is best rationed.

Moon Slayer

The Starfleet first officer is going to be a human of the opposite gender of the captain, because I have plans.

In the game, bridge officers are rewards for reaching a certain level, and are usually presented in groups of three with random species. So, for example, you'll hit a certain level and get a choice of a male Tellerite engineer, a female Vulcan tactical officer, and a male Saurian science officer.

My plan is to steal a concept from Poptarts Ninja's original STO thread and let the thread choose, name, and give a background to each new bridge officer.

However, you can also buy bridge officers on the exchange, and it shouldn't be too hard to find one of pretty much any gender and species. So I'll make this promise: the runner up in this vote will be a bridge officer.
