There are definitely guilds starting to appear, which can do double-business doing Live2D models for games as well. Iron Vertex is probably at the top of the heap for NA guilds right now, though I couldn't find anything around their actual prices.

there's a really weird effect where being behind so many layers of abstraction seems to help the streamers be a lot more genuine than the average, too

probably because you know if you embarrass yourself too badly you can just drop the mask and disappear

i'm assuming the news is the announcement of the diamond/pearl remake and the new open world-looking game

Pat doesn't care and just trolls, but Woolie gets genuinely angry at Gamefreak and accuses them of being lazy. And then talks about how Cyber Sleuth is so great then admits he's never played it.

game freak is legitimately one of the laziest unambitious studios out there right now, also, cyber sleuth kicks rear end

game freak should absolutely have lined up an actually good developer to make Arceus, i have zero confidence in their ability to do a good job

I think it's fine not to like how Pokemon is these days but "lazy devs" have never been a thing and saying that poo poo in 2021 when we know the conditions games are made under makes you look like an rear end in a top hat

i said the studio was lazy. i expected that it wouldn't be too difficult to connect the dots that that probably refers to the upper level people that actually make the decisions as opposed to the devs just trying to do their jobs, especially in the thread of a podcast done by people who are very intelligent on how the inner workings of the video game industry operates

Like idk what all this nonsense fighting game fans are complaining about, there's like a billion fighting games these days, the genre has almost never been more mainstream, I'm sure fans of a dozen different dead genres would happily take bad netcode if it meant getting games at all!

except fighting games are a genre that lives or dies on getting as close to frame-perfect as possible. most other online games can soak some stuttering and some lag, but not fighting games. bad netcode means that large swaths of people can functionally only play fighting games in single player if they don't have people around them that also want to play the fighting game right next to them. you're right that fighting games are a super alive genre right now but huge piles of them are nearly unplayable online if you don't have... i will charitably say unusually good internet in your area in the United States. i have no idea how internet infrastructure holds up elsewhere in general in comparision, just that i'm very certain ours is very bad on average

re: snap, i didn't see anyone mad about pokemon snap except people that are literally too young to know what pokemon snap was - which is a lot of people, that is a 22 year old game - grumpy that it wasn't a remake
