TBH Boogiepop seems a more likely risky pick. There is a good chance it could be a really boring procedural show with most of the plot shoved in at the end.

I might do more specific thoughts later, but I want to give a shoutout to Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai which looks like it could be pretty decent, as long as you can accept the fact that it looks like a video game.

Also convenient that Kemurikusa (TV) is right after Kemono Friends 2 on the list, since that's the actual spiritual successor of the first Kemono Friends season.

Domestic Na Kanojo has an odd premise, that could absolutely be handled poorly, but i'll give it props for having it's teenage characters actually be sexually active teens with agency of their own.

Dimensional High School doesn't look great, but it being made with wonky poser models, including the characters reacting to their limbs clipping into themselves in the PV, was kind of hilarious.

Dororo can go either way depending on how they adapt the material, and the PV does look a bit stiff, but the tone feels appropriate, so I'm cautiously optimistic

Endro might be a light, fluffy comedy.

I have no idea if it'll be good, but Rinshi!! Ekoda-chan is going for an 18-if approach of having 12 directors, one for each episode apparently. That's...interesting.

Girly Air Force is a bad name, the cg neon colored plains look like crap, and the premise made me lose faith in the story, as well.

A lot of people like the Kaguya Sama manga, so hopefully it's a great adaptation

New season of Kakegurui is exciting for me.

Promised Neverland is some good Mind Games with a healthy dose of hooror. If you havn't checked out the manga, I definitely recommend going into this one blind.

Mob Psycho 100 already has a good shot of being AOTY 2019. I highly recommend it.

Also, very brave of Doga Kobo to go two-for-two seasons in a row with comedies whose main vehicle for jokes is Pedophilia.

If only Doga Kobo learnt more from Anima Yell than Uzamaid :sigh: Uzamaid actually had a decent story about two girls coming to terms about their dead parents but it's buried under a load of lolicon crap.

Safe pick: Kakegurui xx. I really enjoyed the first season (even the anime original episode!) and it looks like s2 is more of the same "horny for gambling" energy. Also has the tower arc that people were saying good things about, so looking forward to that.

Risky picks: Kaguya/5toubun. I enjoy both manga series, but I feel like what made them special would come after what a 1-cour would probably adapt. I have confidence the early comedy will come through, though, just that I don't enjoy it quite as much as the later stuff.

I said it in the spring thread, but be warned that the manga basically ends with "and their adventures continue", since it was cancelled.

I can't read the summary for Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari and not think of the shield builds from Dark Souls. Just put some spikes on it and punch things. Looks interesting enough to check out though.

Other than that, ill check out all the :siren: shows of course. Revisions looks pretty cool, 3dcg and all. Grimms Notes sounds intriguing from the summary but not sure about it from the pv. Crossing my fingers for the new Bahamut thing, but have low expectations after season 2 and given its a school thing.

Ok, I'm not 100% sure even I know what the gently caress I'm saying, but I feel compelled to comment even though I've not seen the show, but it's weird that stuff like Uzumaid doesn't quite trigger my offense like some of the other groddy shows that have come out this Fall and this coming Winter(you know the ones) and a big reason I think/fee is that it's a comedy. Like yeah Tsubame acts VERY inappropriately towards Misha, but I think that's the joke in that we the viewer are SUPPOSED to recognize about how loving crazy and weird she is. This doesn't make it any less creepy and it very much isn't everyone's brand of humor especially in this instance, but I get the joke and what it's trying to achieve. Compare that to BADLY built worlds to facilitate horrific events for no reason except shock value, God awful premises, and overt misogyny and yeah and Uzumaid just feels...benign by comparison. Like it's still problematic, but it's easier to palate due to it's intention as a comedy vs two of the others which are clearly trying to go for that serious story bullshit while peddling some REALLY nasty vulgar poo poo.

As for picks I legit don't know. People have been wanting Kaguya FOREVER so that seems like a safe pick, ditto for Promised Neverland which I need to stop being a lazy gently caress and read already and Mob Psycho.

The original 1969 anime, the videogame and the live action movie each have their own endings that they could draw from so I wouldn't worry. The 69 anime even had a pretty great ending thematically, it just had two or three episodes worth of content packed into a single episode because it was the 60s

You should be forewarned that Shield Hero is incredibly misogynistic with a healthy slice of pedophilic undertones(overtones?) later on.

Oh boy...

I like the idea and look of the show to at least give it a shot, so guess I'll see how bad it really is. I'm still watching Goblin Slayer despite being pretty misogynistic because it does some really interesting things. Maybe this'll manage to be interesting enough to cringe through the lovely stuff.

I'm cautious about the new Dororo, it could easily burn itself out if it's going for a prestige style presentation and that's exactly what every recent Tezuka anime has done from what I can tell.

Of course, those were all original works based on Tezuka instead of a direct adaptation

You do you I suppose

But I do agree that the concept of a fighter becoming very strong through using a shield as a weapon is a cool premise...it's just a shame about everything else the series endorses.

To tie it into what doomrider7 was talking about, this show feels like a proto-incel/MRA propaganda, which indirectly encourages real life violence and suffering.

Uzumaid is a black-comedy with a central concept of the maid being a pedophile. Black comedy inherently doesn't endorse the things it's describing, but must be handled well, otherwise it can have that consequence, especially in a visual medium such as Anime and manga-the manga for Uzumaid sure seemed like it was being written by somebody who was horny for children, which is why I didn't continue past the second chapter.

The reason why I feel Uzumaid isn't quite as bad is that we the viewer are supposed to find Tsubame weird and creepy hence the humor of her doing these overt displays and other stuff. Again VERY YMMV for the whole pedo thing, but we're not supposed to think that's cool. Goblin Slayer wants us to be on board with the idea of complete genocide of a COMPLETELY inherently evil race of sub-human creatures on top of it's REALLY grotesque and disturbing trend of showing the most horrific scenes of violence happening to women on top of sexualizing the scenes of rape and other really groddy fetishistic takes when recounting her rape, the camera pans on Sword Maidens erect nipples and jiggle of her breasts as she talks to GS in a bated breath. It was just disgusting and loving creepy.

I haven't read Shield Hero, but a LOT of the stuff I've read about it is just...Weirdly awful. Like the stuff about the false rape is REALLY problematic in this current political climate, the stuff about the loli slaves and how one of them physically ages herself to be better use to him and wanting to be with him(still mind of 10 year old), him being dismissive to them, all of the women close in age to him hold him in contempt or ignore him except for his loli slaves who love him, the real identity of the woman who cried rape and her eventual fate.
