I started driving in the late 90s so I've had some pretty big swings because when I was starting out it would semi-regularly go under $1. Then in the mid 00s it zoomed up to about $4 and stayed closer to that for way too long.

Finished watching A Series of Unfortunate Events and was kind of surprised by how much the third season does with humanizing Olaf.

I think my favorite episode of S3 was the first part of the hotel story. The writing was very snappy and I really liked the part where you get to the end of Sunny's section and realize that there was a third brother.

Essentially, but he was gay instead of a pedophile which opens a whole other can of worms...

I think you're mixing up two different episodes. There was an episode where R Kelly goes on trial and there was a different one about a rapper who was secretly gay.

Could be...I thought those were the same R Kelly-analogue character.

The R Kelly episode was directly about R Kelly. The gay rapper one was more of a generic thing (the rapper was named Gangstalicious) and I'm not sure it was supposed to be about any specific rapper.

My understanding is that the industry has a vested interest in turning a blind eye as in addition to his own career he has written popular songs for other artists.

The Pauls are popular because they're good looking young men who are good are marketing. Also they exploit the fact that YT isn't as regulated like other broadcast media when it comes to advertising and contain what would be an illegal amount of ads for their products and services.

If you like the first few, you'll like the rest if you don't get bored with the premise.

It never really changes much aside from the most recent season where it feels more like NTSF::SD::SUV than Police Squad.

A running joke I like from the new season is how they're working on all these high profile cases and they take place in unglamorous places like Des Moines or St Louis.

Sucks but not entirely surprising. I never heard anyone mention it. I'm also gonna miss a show with such a high output. They did like 4 seasons in like what, 3 years?

It was a weird situation because Syfy ordered the seasons in blocks, so you had one and two and then three and four instead of doing it one at a time.

Netflix used to be iffy. I remember watching Newsradio and it had encoding errors and the audio de-synced like it was a crappy xvid release I found on Kazaa.

Yeah, also if you stop buying discs entirely then you won't know you wanted something until it disappears from all the streaming options in a merger/rights kerfluffle/gets locked behind yet another single-studio streaming service with its own possibly-lovely sub rates and quality. By then it might well be gone from the shelves too, you hit up Amazon/Ebay and suddenly it's $200 a season, oops.

Except when they don't actually produce the disc versions, like what happened with King of the Hill.

Hey Netflix, I thought your all powerful algorithm was supposed to accurately tell what kind of stuff I'd like? Why would you think I'd want to watch a comedy special where the guy makes fun of someone next to him at the gym putting in his "bitch buds." Putting aside the fact that someone at the gym using headphones isn't anything out of the ordinary, how does that insult even make sense?

That's literally how Rifftrax got started. Legend Films was putting out disk versions of movies in the public domain and Mike Nelson did some MST3k-style commentaries on them. IIRC they didn't actually do that many before officially spinning off into Rifftrax.
