Last comment of Vlaerian while I’m drinking. I loved how they clearly had some mandate to use 70s songs like Guardians of the Galaxy, but didn’t want to do it. The start with Bowie, as said unthread, was good. And the end title was something I don’t remember. But the best was this weird hippie guy and Bob Marley starts to play, but the song cuts out in like literally one and a half seconds. Like, they paid for the song, they put it in like the producer made them, and the second that particular shot cuts away, the song fades out. It’s not even a good sound blend, they just get it out as soon as possible.

Dane DeHaan is fine when he's playing a creeper weirdo, e.g. Chronicle. Guy looks like a ghoul. That he was casted as the charming action lead in Valerian is just baffling.

My theory of the casting choice of Valerian is that creepy Luc Besson wanted to bang Cara whatshername and Dane Dahaan has a rich daddy and he invested in Besson's fail studio.

The fast series is weird. The first three are like their own thing. The style changed drastically from 4 onwards. Fast 1: boring, horribly dated but worth a watch 2Fast: boring, don't bother Fast: Tokyo drift: rubbish, don't bother Fast 4 through 7 are pretty entertaining , 5 and 7 being the highlights Fast 8- pretty weak overall, some good Statham stuff though

The funny thing about the fast series is how the supporting crew becomes so superfluous when the better, more charismatic folks come in. Really in 8 all you needed was The Rock and Statham, even Diesel was a wet noodle. The fact that Ludacris and Tyrese are still in these is just a lol.
