I'm still baffled at the exclusion of some of the more iconic soundtracks like Forze de Male, The Deep End, The 13th Reflection, and Disappeared And also that the box says there are tracks from KH3 ReMind even though there aren't

Ubisoft’s making a Star Wars game. While it will probably be dog poo poo, it means that EA’s exclusivity deal won’t be re-upped. And that mean that Star Wars is finally, actually available to Kingdom Hearts. That doesn’t mean Disney will OK it, but now that things are getting fictional they could do a lot worse.

I also sort of wonder if worlds based on actual Square-Enix properties could possibly work now as well (possibly even including some of the anime/manga they’ve helped publish like FMA). I mean, we’re pretty much already halfway there with Quadratum.

It's been mentioned before but Fullmetal Alchemist would actually fit the Kingdom Hearts motif pretty well in my opinion (thematically at least). You'd (hopefully) have to get a new English actor for Ed of course but I'd be fine with anyone else from that dub coming back for this. On another note, in Melody of Memory what exactly is the purpose of the Strength stat? Doesn’t everything die in a set amount of hits regardless of your level?

The stronger you are, the more likely you’ll stun multi-hit enemies. If they’re stunned you don’t take damage from them if you gently caress up

Thanks to whoever suggested picking Beauty and the Beast when playing absurdly good players online. I managed to beat a guy who has gotten All Excellent on every song on every difficulty by picking that one lol I lost every other round but gained way more rating from the one win than I lost from six losses. I’ve gotten full chains on every song on Beginner and Standard and about half the songs on Proud... but All Excellent? Nah I’m not that invested in the game.

I'm finally getting around to cheating through the Limit Cut fights, and holy god drat these assholes are cool. But even at level 99, with ez mode regenerating health, it takes a while to find enough openings to actually attack. And both Xion and Old Xehanort reduce max health? Christ, I will never be Gud enough to handle these legitimately. Y'all who have are way stronger gamers than me.

If you’re really stuck, turn on Survival Mode (and/or possibly another code I’m forgetting), you’ll take more damage but every enemy/boss goes down in one hit except ones that feature cutscene bullshit like Xehanort’s final form in the main game. Auto-Block will also help a lot against Xigbar as the entire gimmick behind the fight is you have to reflect his shots back at him. Of course, on my file I was playing on Beginner Mode. The ending alone weighs heavily for it but there's like 1 boring bad disney world and like 4 of them that are all time franchise highs. Absolutely fabulous game. And the combat ended up being way way ahead of 2's Triangle To Win/Survive and Drive to Own Enemy endgame bosses. Especially the DLC fights. Yozora is probably one of the best 'Vergil' fights I've seen in an action/character action game.

But the time bar's way more manageable than max hp reduction. I was playing on Critical, too, so that max hp was already pretty low to begin with.

It looks like KH: Melody of Memories is currently $20 off for the digital version. I know a lot of you said that you were holding off until the price dropped... now would be a good time to jump on. It’s fun but I agree making it a full-price game was a mistake.

Was it just added difficulty or what There was a free patch for Critical Mode a few months after the game came out but well before Re:Mind, it’s kinda lacking compared to 2FM IMO (it tanks your MP which has the opposite effect of 2’s Crit pushing you to use all your options) but it’s definitely no snooze. Re:Mind’s release also came with a free patch that iirc made Sora control significantly smoother (i didn’t play much of pre-Re:Mind KH3), adds some postgame skills and Oathkeeper/Oblivion as rewards for finding all the lucky emblems/beating Critical that give a new form (well forms but they’re basically palette swaps). Re:Mind itself also comes with a short okay story thing, the organization refights, and a hidden boss after that, which is mainly what people are referring to when they talk about it. You also get ingame cheats to make the game easier and a separate set of cheats to make it harder when starting a new game.

The secret boss is probably the most fun fight in the franchise. It's so good to just stop panicking and figure out his actual moveset and see how it works and how he tries to bait you with poo poo. The story part was just a rehash of the end of the game, adding a few minutes of optionally playing from the perspective of other keyblade wielders and adding more stages to the final boss fight. You can play as other characters for a few minutes, but they don't give you any time to get used to them- they just dump you into boss fights. It explains how things play out at the end I guess, but I wasn't into the tricky organization refights and was sorely disappointed overall.

Re:Mind was fun and also showed what the rest of the crew were up against while Sora dealt with Xehanort in Scala Ad Caelum. That boss fight was pretty neat. I thought Critical Mode with attractions turned off was really great. Not as good as KHIIFM but still great in its own right. I never got around to the data fights but I might go back some time to finish them. They’re really good if you like that kind of thing.
