1. Establish a precedent where I can still manage to do the hunts I actually like doing while having a kid around.-Sort of, I definitely managed to spend days out in the field but almost none were days I would have preferred to hunt and my one trip for the year went sideways as hell to the point it may have well not existed. I haven’t been successful on any hunt this year besides doves so I need to figure out how to be successful. I realized this is the point when a lot of guys get more money than time and just private clubs or go guides but my dumb rear end still insists on hunting DIY and usually public land despite having a busy career, a toddler and a doctor wife.
2. Purge all excess hunting clothing and shooting gear- Gave away or sold most of it. Still could do a bit more.
3. Setup my reloading bench or sell all of it. -Sold it
4. Buy a snapsafe
5. Get certified to shoot past 500 yards at my range.

In 2019 I managed to purge gear mostly and buy better optics.

Unfortunately due to having a baby my shooting skills went to poo poo and my hunting has sucked horribly.

I recommend sticking to anal sex or your shooting and hunting will go to hell should you procreate.

2019 gun goals:

- See if I can get one of my 22 revolver's barrel re-lined
- Reload more

Personal
- Make my health my main focus of spare time including possibly getting my wrist operated on. Gun related as my reloading press takes a toll on my wrist.
Got the SAA, didn't love it, sold it. Took my pitted bore gun to the smith and we decided the cost wasn't worth it. Definitely reloading more. Health has been a huge focus this year as i started bringing my lunch to work every day, bringing a side salad most days and walking at work. I had a setback where I saw a couple of specialists including my cardiologist for dizziness. Turns out I was dehydrated . Got my wrist operated on.

- Take at least three training classes (already registered for one).
- Sell more guns (I want to reduce the pieces in my collection by around half. Especially urgent now that I may not get another paycheck for a while).
- Handload as much as I can can. Way more than last year. I've already loaded up about five hundred rounds of .357 SIG with more coming as soon as I get off my butt and load my primer feed tubes back up. I want to start playing with handloading .308 and .300 Blackout as well as replenishing my supply of cheap 9mm, .38 Special, and .223.
- Participate in the "1000 rounds of live fire" challenge. Not really a challenge for me, probably, but I do want to log it and keep better track of my practices and competitions.
- Put in paperwork for the four suppressors that I bought like two years ago(!) and that have just been sitting at my shop. Also put in for at least one more SBR stamp.

Didn't get my collection cut in half, but did cut it by around 25%, which I'll call a win. Still working on it.

Handloaded a few hundred more .357 SIG, but that's it.

Did the 1000 rounds of live fire challenge; not counting the range trip scheduled for this afternoon, I'm at 7124 rounds fired in 2019.

Didn't do any NFA paperwork.

This year I want to hunt and eat at least five different species.

Turns out duck hunting makes this goal pretty easy.

The real wins for my first hunting season are:
1) Location notes and GPS waypoints.
2) Figuring out season changes from Mendocino NF to Los Padres NF. Just basic stuff like when leaves fall or when manzanitas have berries.
3) Finding other duck hunters who have equipment and calling skill so I can call them up when I get a nice blind reservation.

Well, I did get to handle it and get my own form 4 sent out. It sounds like the fast form 4s were only a thing for a short while, so it'll probably be later next year when I can take it home.

2014-16 sucked hard for me. Wanted to get back into competition and shoot more but that never happened.

2017 I just wanted to get back into shooting shot maybe 3-4 times the whole year.

2018 Things started to turn around still didn't make any long term plans other than shooting more and actually taking steps to get back into competing. started to think about getting a suppressor or two.

2019
Actually get back into competing and reload more - DONE!

Start my stamp collection - DONE! put the money down on a Spectre II

Shoot more in general - WIP have a range membership with known ranges and a not surrounded by any shitbirds that can buy a gun blasting into the mountain. Makes it easy.

And I think I have successfully completed my goals for the year.
Missed the last three months of matches because of illness, injury and time crunches with the holidays, but I'm ready to get back at it for the next year.

Still waiting on the form 4 to come back and now am planning on a form 1 suppressor for next year.

And I have gone out and shot more this year, having the membership at a club has helped that immensely.

going into 2020, I want to continue competing and spend more time shooting. I want to spend less on new guns and more on upgrading the things on the guns (new sights/optics/trigger jobs/ fixing that loving blackhawk that the front sight flew off of).

Goals for 2019, my first full year as a gun guy:

  1. Stop buying so drat many guns! 2018 started with zero guns in my house. Now, between my wife and I, we have a target pistol (Mk IV 22/45), a 1911 (RIA), a LEO surplus service revolver (Model 10-6), a SA cowboy revolver (Wrangler), a tiny pistol (LCP2), a snubbie (Taurus 605), babby's first long gun (10/22), a subcompact-9 (Shield), a compact-9 (M&P 9c), a Nine-9 (M&P), and the one that got us into this mess, a kick-rear end revolver (686).
  2. Get a storage solution that is a little more secure, even if it is a little more conspicuous.
  3. Master loading 38 special. Start loading 357 magnum and 45 ACP. Master the single stage press, and justify getting something more... progressive... if I want to move on to loading tons more.
  4. Get better at shooting, especially with my new Mark IV.
  5. Find a good outdoor range where I can sight in my 10/22 and have some longer-range fun.

I thought you were picking up a G40 MOS with a threaded barrel?

I really need to think about my goals for next year. Maybe upgrade my AR, get a few holsters, I'd like to do competitions but I don't know how likely that is when I'm working overnights. I tend to go to bed around noon to 1PM.

Getting a can would be fun, but I don't have anything with a threaded barrel at this point. Maybe a Kadet kit for my CZ or a full-blown .22 pistol to replace the one that was stolen.

I have pretty low goals, no new gun purchases planned, like ever again. Too much of a bother and too expensive nowadays in Finland. Don't really shoot any more, little time & motivation.

I might maybe make new stocks reassemble my 1873 uberti lever, been disassembled since 2013, been meaning to get off my rear end and do something about it...

I would like to do some gunsmithing projects eventually with my lathe and mill, like making a suppressor for my Winchester 9422, thinking of a flat sided monocore that sits low and doesn't obscure the sights. Don't think this will happen in 2020 tbh, too many other projects ahead.
