Seriously I'm watching clips of some of his best moments and he made the dumbest, worst written stories seem great just by bringing his own skills as a tertiary figure to them. He made great stuff amazing and bad stuff good.

Some teeth long for ripping, gleaming wet from black dog gums. So you keep your eyes closed at the end. You don't want to see such a mouth up close. before the bite, before its oblivion in the goring of your soft parts, the speckled lips will curl back in a whinny of excitement. You just know it.

Yeah Gene's talents were probably wasted in wrestling when he could have been the best interviewer for any legitimate sport but I'm thankful he decided to interview insane roid monsters throughout my childhood

Jerusalem

Would you be my new best friends?

Gene was the absolute loving best. Not exactly a controversial take of course, but what else can you say. Nobody did it better, his voice was superb, his delivery was better and he was so incredibly quick on his feet.

76 is way too young, but nobody can deny he packed one hell of a lot into his life.

Yea there's always dudes who are in wrestling despite having the skills to do their thing in more 'legit' businesses, especially at the time when Gene was doing it. I'm very happy he spent his time doing this when he probably could have just been a top dude at ESPN or whatever because seeing him treat 'I'm gonna interview this living cartoon who's all hosed up on roid rage and coke' with the same energy as 'I'm gonna interview the QB who's team just won the super bowl' was always a delight.
