Time to reveal Hal Jordan is behind all the time line zaniness in a big to make himself and the other "legends" the true heroes even at the cost of their successors. In other words, he got his Zero Hero and it's why we got people like Barry back even as Wally kicked around.

The old horses like Hal and Barry need to go where they belong.

Back in the ground.

Entirely justified firing for that.

I don't know, but Johns has always been kind of double-minded about the "superheroes should be dark and gritty/superheroes should be hopeful and bright" thing. He'll preach the latter, but then Superboy Prime will start ripping arms off or Firestorm's girlfriend will get turned to salt while she cries.

So true. Johns has made comments about how dark and violent things are condemning them but if you've read his various books he's been one of the most violent and dark writers out there. I still remember a shark man eating a woman alive in one book.

Now I'm trying to figure out what happened to Stewart during Rayner's tenure. He had his own series in Mosaic but that was still Jordan. Jordan tussled with Rayner early on Rayner's run during Zero Hour, and Rayner had some crossover with Warrior/Guy, but I don't recall any interactions with Stewart at all.

John started showing up in GL during Rayners run as a supporting character. The man was a an architect and darn good at the job, he used his former experience as a GL and Darkstar to aid Kyle. At one point Stewart became a target for a vengeful woman who wanted Stewarts head on a pike for the whole Mosaic failure but they were able to best her so he had his time to shine even if he wasn't in the main role. He pretty much stayed a supporting character until Rebirth happened. I much preferred Stewarts role as an architect than a marine, making him a typical marine type felt so black role typecast to me, I remember someone writing in thanking the writers for not making him the generic black marine until again Rebirth happened.

I like to think Rebirth and all the various Crises since the original are the results of the universe trying to right itself due to Hal Jordan succeeding at doing a Zero Hour and no one knows it, it's why he was the big shining star for a come back, why a giant 60's style bug was actually responsible for his fall and he even got to punch Batman and put him in his place. Hal got ultimate power and wanted the "icons" back in power so that meant so many successors or former side kicks got the raw end of the deal and continue to be jerked around, it's why history keeps changing and warping, it's fighting back against the manipulations Jordan is secretly pulling so people like him can stay as the "golden hero" and why Barry even came back so Hal could have his best friend again even if it means people like Wally and his family get screwed over. As long the so called icons are in place Hal's happy.

Brutally at that. It's funny how many people use to be upset all those GL's were killed in the past and cried about it but when Johns did it? Well it wasn't Hal killing them so it's okay!

Johns didn’t destroy the entire corps. What Green Lanterns did he even kill off?

You know most of the Lanterns that Hal killed on his rampage to the battery? They became known as the Lost Lanterns and Johns had them return because god forbid Hal having actually killed any. Buuuuuuuuuuuut

quote:

During the War of Light, the Lost Lanterns began to disgregate, starting with the murders of Jack T. Chance and Ke'Haan at the hands of the Sinestro Corps (by Kyle Rayner possessed by Parallax[4] and the Anti-Monitor[5], respectively) during the Sinestro Corps War to later been reanimated as Black Lanterns[6]. After the Sinestro Corps War, the Guardians of the Universe designed Boodikka as one of the new Alpha Lantern Corps. Also, Laira was expelled from the Corps, only to later become one of the first Red Lanterns (and then murdered and converted into a Black Lantern). Only Tomar-Tu, Graf Toren and Hannu remain as Green Lanterns.

So yay?

It's always fun to me that Johns' big event comics are always about bringing hope and optimism back to comics that are too dark and violent, for instance, all other comics by Geoff Johns.

Can't wait to see how Three Jokers is about how the Joker is too dark and violent while he rips Jason Todd's arm off.

I remember how a year back Johns was going on about how things were too dark or whatever and he basically blamed Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns as the reasons why. Yet he was the guy who was having people gruesomely killed every other issue or during some event, he was basically the chief offender in horrible poo poo happening at DC.

Kinda funny as Disney basically axed a lot of future 4K releases including Marvel movies and others that people wanted like True Lies. They appear to be going into digital mind set as well so it might be both big companies do the same thing.

Disney Looking to Acquire DC Comics & Join Marvel

http://onsmash.com/lifestyle/disney-buying-dc-comics-2021/

Disney buying DC Comics 2021. Last week, reports surfaced that Warner Bros., DC Comics and DC Brand are officially being sold. CNBC first reported that the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, is the trojan horse to have the deal completed.

The new company, WarnerDiscovery, has given flexibility for a sell of both entities to Walt Disney Company. The move could have both DC Comics and the DC brand under Disney and Marvel.

Apple, Amazon and Netflix are also inquiring about the sale, but the Disney move looks to be legit. Here’s the explanation of how the move is going to get done, with no interruptions. Now, AT&T, parent company of WarnerMedia, is looking to get completely out of entertainment.

With AT&T is expected to retain majority shares in the WarnerDiscovery merger, the former NBC Universal executive is expected to play a major name. Current CEO of Discovery, David Zaslav, would include NBC, Peacock Streaming and other factions within the company sold in the WarnerDiscovery deal.

Now, this comes off the heels of the controversial report last year; that Marvel was looking to take over DC, in this now confirmed major sale. Kevin Feige, who runs the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, could assist in the development of the DC Universe.

Imagine seeing Batman, Superman and the Justice League teaming up with the Avengers. Why are we posting this days later? Simply, because a close friend at AT&T confirmed this deal is actually in the works.

Wally is finally fixed, now they need to hurry up and reveal much of what has been going on is due to Hal actually succeeding in Zero Hour and making history treat him as the greatest. You know since he's an ego manic. All the batshit crazy poo poo going on with so many legacy characters getting shafted can easily be explained by Hal's loving around with time and space to have the originals aka the icons as Didio loved to say, while the universe attempts to fight back only for Hal to keep hitting the reset button screwing up things even worse.

The sooner Jordan gets skewered the better.

Image II is go.

Good riddance to Geoffs.

Now that he and Didio is gone, let's make Hal Jordan evil, reveal he managed to pull off Zero Hour and all the crap going on with Barry coming back is basically Hal trying to be THE hero of the DC universe,
even getting to punch Batman because he really is the egotist jerk most of us know him to be. All the hiccups in continuity/reboots being Hal trying to make changes and the universe itself fighting back causing bumps and ripples.

Then kill Barry.

Kill him.

Wasn't Croc like pretty smart and organized until Bane beat the poo poo out of him in the build up to Knightfall?

Croc was a very human looking guy with "the mother of all skin diseases" to quote one of Bane's stooges. Originally, he did plan to take over Gotham's underworld but got beat by the Bat, actually helped Batman save a kid in the sewers, was thought to have drown. You know, since he was just a guy who looked ugly and his skin enabled him to take some good hits but that was it, only strong. He showed back up living in the sewers eating rats, was having a mental issue, and went to fight Batman. During this Azreal was in the costume as Bruce was crashing hard. Bane saved Azreal and broke Crocs arms brutalizing him. He could have taken out Robin and Azreal Batman there and then, he did not.

That wasn't Batman and he knew it.

Croc showed up again later for revenge on Bane, now he looked more beast like. That only increased over the ages.

Always liked how Bane figured out who Batman was.

The answer?

His chin/jawline.

Bane knew Batman had to be someone wealthy or being supplied by someone wealthy, eventually he matched up the chins and the rest is history.

Batman's secret identity is probably one of the worst kept secrets in the DCU. The latest Penguin adds another two people in the know at this point. Also if you thought hyper competent Batman and Joker was bad, The Penguin does the same for the eponymous character at least in terms of charisma and social manipulation including retconning/recontextualizing their early relationship as more a public game while he acts as an informant in the underworld in secret and plays up his bird obsession to go to Arkham and it's revolving doors

Always hated when a hero seemed to be known by everyone. Especially enemies.

Usually they always end up getting hurt, suffering brain damage or having their memory wiped to reset the status quo.

Scott Snyder is heading a new line of DC Comics called Absolute DC. The article is very confusing on exactly what this will be though. Calling it similar to Marvel's Ultimate line, but also saying it's in the regular continuity and is akin to a New 52/Rebirth style initiative. I honestly don't understand why the need for this. I was enjoying a bunch of Dawn of DC stuff so can we not muddy the waters?

Absolute Power shows how Waller will use the strategic and military might of Failsafe and the otherworldly technology of the Brainiac Queen to steal all metahuman abilities from every super hero and super-villain around the globe, a threat so dire it will take the combined efforts of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Super Heroes of the DC Universe to defeat it.

Absolute Power has been teased across the Dawn of DC initiative for several months, teasing a "Trinity of Evil" that will make a profound impact on the DC Universe. As we now know, this "Trinity" will consist of Batman's recent foe Failsafe, the recent Action Comics adversary Brainiac Queen, and Amanda Waller.

JLA: Act of God was definitely God awful.

Diana due to her background coming to worship the Christian God while being a rather pitiful person is defnitely up there as one of the key reasons.

Other reasons include:
Clark becoming a self hating drunk mess.
Lois and Clark breaking up.

As Calax said, it's very pro Batman and makes everyone else look stupid and inept in comparison.
