TheFlyingLlama posted:the digital devil saga SMTs have runs around 5 hours, so you might be able to make a marathon safe run with em. There was an SMT Marathon on RPG Limit Break's channel in 2017, runs for DDS 1 and 2, Nocturne all went mostly smoothly. Really Really Long A Thon had I think DDS2 All Bosses which was like 16 hours. So marathon safe isn't a problem I think Number of runners shouldn't really matter, should it? SMT seems less obscure than other stuff we've seen in GDQs

When I see Nocturne I immediately think someone speedran that janky old horror game and get sad when it's not the case

I remember that game actually being cool but it's been like a decade

Recommendation for next year's Awful Block: only play terrible video game music on the stream between games.

Sage Grimm posted:Yes, the various mythologies clashing is sacrosanct in a world where God of War, Bayonetta, Athena, NES Bible Adventures, Peaches running Catechumen and various others have all shown up in GDQ over the years. i'd worry less about the audience and more about the platform/advertisers saying literally killing god and hailing satan is over the line but i'd agree it's a pretty small risk. the maximum edgelord element of SMT games doesn't really come through in a speedrun because the story isn't the point and half the time you are glitching past it anyway.

There was a set of DJ samples that got used A LOT in Japanese games of that era, from in-game BGMs to music in trailers. You'll hear those same lyrics in a handful of DDR songs.

Play slightly shittier versions of regular tracks and see how long it takes people to catch on, like the GBA versions of the ffvi soundtrack.

I was looking for a page like this, but must have overlooked it on the main site. If your prize(s) get picked, are you responsible for shipping costs to get the items to them? I imagine you are, but I'm just trying to make sure I understand everything going in so there's no surprises.
