You can find the Twitter account for the podcast here: https://twitter.com/CitationsPod Some really good episodes worth listening to as a primer: Episode 1: The Charter School Scam Episode 3: The Rise of Superpredator 2.0 Episode 5: Purging Socialists of Color From History News Brief: Nazis, the ACLU & the Moral Limits of 'Free Speech' <- this is the episode that directly followed the death of Heather Heyer at the hands of Nazis in Virginia, and is very good. News Brief: Don't Let the Media Erase McCain's Far Right Legacy Episode 50: Anti-Imperialism and MSNBC-Approved Socialism Episode 51: How 'The West Wing' Poisoned the Liberal Mind <-  this one will probably be a favorite among the leftists. Episode 55: Jake Tapper and the Art of Faux-Adversarialism Episode 57: A Matter of Survival - Trivializing Trans Rights as a Boutique “Identity” Issue <- this is, in my opinion, the best episode I've heard so far and the guest on this episode is really good. If you only listen to one of these recommendations, listen to this one. The format of the show, in general, is a segment of Nima and Adam introducing the topic of the week (I believe the podcast is weekly but I'm not 100% sure on that), followed by 1-2 guest segments featuring someone who is generally an activist or academic in a field related to the topic, followed by closing remarks by Nima and Adam. Some episodes don't have guests, or are generally shorter, such as the "News Brief" episodes, which are roughly half an hour. The main episodes tend to be an hour. Overall, in my opinion, this podcast is generally very good and I find the two hosts enjoyable to listen to and relatable. It's not a comedy podcast the way Chapo is, so unfortunately it's not strictly speaking funny, but the two hosts are nice and they do get in the occasional joke. They pick especially good guests, and I have yet to listen to an episode where I questioned why the gently caress they invited this person on. I highly recommend this podcast and I hope we can have a good time discussing it.  Let me know if you feel anything is missing from the OP, in terms of links, social media stuff, etc. I generally listen to the podcast through an iPhone podcast app, but Soundcloud is also generally fine from my experience. Edit: user King of Soloman kindly pointed out to me that most News Brief mini-episodes are Patron-exclusive, tho some have been made available to everyone. It's worth mentioning that their News Brief mini-episodes tend to be exclusive to people who subscribe to their Patreon. They do post some of them publicly via Soundcloud, etc., but the majority of them never leave their Patreon feed. They're also good enough to justify the fee, but that's just me.

Genuinely my favorite left-y podcast that hits the right mix of subject matter, interviews, comedy and outrage without leaning too far into any of those. OP already mentions the episode on the West Wing which I feel is a much more interesting take on the subject than say, Chapo's (and I like Chapo!) and remains one of my favorite episodes. Highly recommend episodes 45 and 46 too, they focus on Bill Gates but in general are a huge takedown of "development" discourse in the global south, and considering for a while in my life after my teenage communist phase that was the kind of liberal I was, it was interesting to look back at how the ideology has been manufactured.

This is the best political podcast you're going to find and it's also loving hilarious and horrifying. The montage of all the news stories from the poor people doing superhuman feats just to survive under late-stage capitalism was just soul crushing.

Thanks for making this thread - I just got into them the other night and episode 57 blew me away with how on point the content was and how loving insanely smart and put together the guest was. It was just a delight of listening to smart, incisive people discuss a powerful topic and I kind of want them to revisit it and do a 6 hour special or something because I could listen to Dean Spade go on all day.

PT 2 of the MSNBC episode has been terrible, the guest is an utter MSNBC ghoul. Atleast Nima and Adam refuted a bunch of stuff he said. I guess the only redeeming quality is that it shows how BS any excuse that cable news folks make are but I imagine that most folks on the left could have figured it out. On a slight tangent what is a good episode to introduce people to this podcast?

In my humble opinion, the short episode on John McCain is by far the best of the short ones (that I've listened to so far), and the one after Charlottesville about free speech and the ACLU is a close follow up. Both can be good primers for any  liberals in your life.

I thought it was interesting, it did a really good of proving all their points without them having to get too adversarial with the guy. Really drives home that all people in corporate media have these ideological blinders, because that's what the industry selects for, and it will never provide any meaningful criticism of the system any more than state owned media in say, Russia would criticize Putin. The dude even said it outright a couple of times. For-profit media in the US is pretty much worthless. ETA, I hope they don't do any episodes like this again though, once was enough.

The guest really made their argument for them with his weak rear end counter-arguments, and even agreed with them outright on all the major points, so I'm unsure what he thought he was accomplishing by coming on to the show. I'd recommend listening to the first five minutes of the episode then turning it off, because it mostly repeats itself from there.

Yeah I will always skip the interviews for CN and I'm very glad I did it for this episode. I wish they were a little more Slayer and a little less Bruce Springsteen band, but alas, this is the curse of being a more accessible political podcast.

He does a great job both of discussing the importance of things like trans rights and also the liberalization of the trans rights movement, pinkwashing of institutions like the military, etc. He's really, really good, and references a lot of great resources to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of trans people at risk.
