Anno 2070 is probably technically better than 1404 but the atmosphere of the game is inferior and why I've never been able to play it as much.

The UI is the worst part, quite a downgrade from how easy 1404 was to read from a glance, the icons are tiny on what you need to build something and it takes a second to figure out what I'm missing. It's a good game though.

Well, my first sandbox game just ended in disaster, don't piss off the pirates yo. They sent a fleet of 10 ships to my harbor and destroyed everything. Paying their cease-fire tribute is much higher than it was in Anno 1404 which took me by surprise.

It won't no, it's the same system as in Anno 1404 but now the resource building needs to be linked to the production building with a road rather than being inside its influence range.

I don't think you need to think that much about streamlining your island pops/attractiveness until T4 anyway, you aren't going to be able to get the really high expedition rewards until then as well. It also aptly shows that Industrialisation brought big changes to how society worked.

Good game. I like the changes it's made from 1404 and it's pretty deep/time-consuming. UI could use some improvements, 1404 was clear from a glance and I have to spend more time fighting the interface now but I also like the X-series so nothing as bad as that.

Started a new sandbox and have 4 Islands within the Old World at around 10,000 pops total. I kinda like how it encourages you to have multiple settlements as in 1404 I rarely made anything but mining/farming outposts outside of the main Island. Gonna try and get a Hub and Spoke system set up so they're all getting their needs met.

And gently caress George, sorry your Dad died in an Iron Mine but why be angry at me for building one when you've already got 3.

Also - you won't be able to build harbor guns which means that you have to be careful to fully wipe out whoever you are fighting as otherwise they'll just smash your crap.

I really hate the way influence mechanics work and I'm pretty drat sure the AI doesn't follow the rules.

I also detest that electricity only works via an oil train and has pitiful range - but that's largely as I didn't realize just how pitiful the range is and I really have no idea how to 'fix' my city's residential area to feed electiricitiy into it as I am so space constrained that laying down the track from the harbor is not easily feasible. (To be fair, the way I'm doing it is relocating my lower tier pops to a poo poo island with a commuter pier and having them supply the labor that way and just building railroads where they used to live)

I wish you could put down blueprints of all the buildings from all tiers from the start so you could properly plan the city instead of having to tear everything down because you got one row wrong hours back.

Unfortunately even the most passive stance (the anchor) still has them make some dumb choices, but it heavily restricts where they'll chase stuff off to though.

I haven't really noticed a difference between the stances, I've still had ships on escort run halfway across the map after pirates while on passive.

The transition from artisan to engineer is where my interest seems to die every time. I think for me it’s a combination of the new/old world transition being really lovely to deal with (it’s seriously like minimum 5 minutes map to map)

Wait, you have to wait 5 minutes for the map change to happen? I thought mine was bad at a few seconds of hanging before it loads it all in, or do you mean the time it takes for the ships to travel?. I'd be fine with no multi-session gameplay tbh, everything on one map might look silly but it's better gameplay. And the DLC's are adding 2 more of these sessions lol.

Frankly, the T4 drag would be so much more bearable if we could use blueprint mode to plan out all the tiers from the start so we don't suddenly get hit with the dread of reorganizing an entire part of the island to get a train track through.

My chains are in a dect spot but I have so goddamn much cotton in the new world. I need way more copper, though. I kinda didn't try to balance those chains as well as the previous and poo poo is getting out of whack.

Income fluctuations are almost always because your pop either is reducing in size due to not having enough of a Need or their happiness going down due to newspapers, work-levels or not enough happiness goods to give them. Though it's super extreme in a way that 1404 wasn't.
