You expect some brutalist design from a hq held on the brink of death by Super Gorilla Power, but then it's all modern eco-friendly wood and tusks and poo poo.

Which works, because their leader isn't a dumb musclehead.

Speaking of Disney, have y'all seen the Disneysea prototypes for Belle's Enchanted ride? It's like the Ariel/Ursula animatronics on next level poo poo. That's going to be awesome when it filters down to the rest of the attractions/new rides.

A Coco themed dark ride with that poo poo would be amazing.

It'd be cool for Snyder to do his own thing. I dont think redoing Excalibur would be all that worth it with the endless comparisons.

It's not hard to follow the beats in Beevis, but the reason they happen boils down to Lex figured everything out.

It's a little contrived and the fight itself ends up being dumb because of it.

Then someone at Warners apparently really believed in the project, because he got a call saying "if you can rewrite this to be half the budget, and find a big enough name to anchor this?... Yeah, we'll still make it."
What's also crazy is that, in order to save money, they eschewed most tradiional CGI in favor of poo poo like macro exposures of fluid dynamics. So you get all these nice contemplative scenes where it's like oil and water mixing that looks like CGI.

The story i heard was that Aaronofsky walked out of The Matrix and was like "where do we go with SciFi from here". And while the original was more grandiose, I feel like the stripped down version was more inventive and took science fiction films down a great path. There's a Graphic Novel called Daytripper that's in a similar vein to Fountain that I wish would get picked up. :(

I had no idea people actually liked The Fountain here. It's like my favorite film and everyone looks at me like I'm from Mars when I say that.

It's a little picture and media heavy for mid 90s. That site would be a giant pain in the rear end to load on dialup 14.4k. Since we're on modern screens it's also missing the heavy dithering common to images of the time.

Aside from the Space Jam site, my go-to for fine mid 90s web design is http://www.saveoursailors.org

No Web2.0 stuff that I can see -- that was more flash heavy. It should be using FRAMES and maybe javascript to make a cool reflecting pool with waves effect somewhere though.

It's also missing an AOL keyword section.

Wonder Woman bias. I love it because she is front and center with Batman and Superman behind her in the first ever shot of DC's "trinity" on film. When it plays out in the movie, WW's theme is also blaring as the camera zooms in on them. It also just looks great; I like the lens flare caused by sparks from Batman's hosed up batwing and all the texture in the shot from the debris/fire surrounding the 3 heroes.
That little sequence almost made the film tolerable.

I think it just sold WW as a loving badass more than anything. From the awesome metal cello theme to the look of "hell yes" when she gets knocked down and springs right back into the fray.

Zach Snyder's initial draft revealed that Black Adam was the one that broke Freddie's leg and the second act would cause him to go all angry at Billy for tapping into The Powah.

Sivana also raided Billy's orphan home because using his power in Anger would allow the Evils of Man to possess him, and allow Sivana's Mind Trap to lock Billy away while Sivana assumed the Buff Bod of the Big Cheese.

Zachary Levi was uncomfortable with the narrative whiplash from Bright and Fun Cap to Snyderverse Cap and the JL fiasco gave him enough leverage to paper over Snyder's intended outcome.

It's part of a planning doc that was rumored to set the trajectory of the DCEU before JL began filming (when Darkseid would be the Act 3 Big Bad tease).

Shazam would go through a dark challenge and emerge though it with hope (countering the bitching about Breakneck Superman), but Freddie's fate would be left for the sequel. Aquaman was supposed to lose his arm and tease the Water Arm/Hook Arm at the end of his film. Cyborg would have dealt with Blue Beetle and set up a situation where the earth would be caught between a war of The Reach and Apokalyptian tech, with the possibility of genetic tanpering leading to a meta-war. And Flash would be up in the air in case they needed a Crisis style reset due to box office failures or casting problems.

It's all referenced in that weird Snyder shirt he commissioned.
