One nice thing about medics that hasn't been mentioned yet is if you put them in guard mode they will automatically heal nearby friendly units within a certain range of them.

The ps1 version of this game uses passwords instead of saves so for this mission you only start out with a constriction yard ,a power plant, and a barracks for your buildings and a mine layer , 1 rifleman and 1 ranger,
fortunately this still isn't to hard so long as you get your base defenses up and running fairly quickly.

Honestly you can drive yourself nuts trying to square the circle that is the Red Alert > Tiberium Dawn timeline, so it's better not to try.

I always thought that the Soviet ending leads to TD while the allied ending leads to RA2.

Kane kills Nadia because he didn't like her line about the "foreseeable future " which means she might be up to something and Kane knows better than to trust her.

So are you going to do the expansion missions in the rough order the Retaliation gives them and splice in the cutscenes or do you have other plans for them?

The promotion to Sergeant in the video is a mistake, you start the game (retaiation) as a Sergeant and by time you unlock that cut scene you will have beaten enough missions to be a Captain. What rank you have is important because the missions you'er allowed to do depend on what rank you are. You get promoted to Captain in the allied campaign by beating 3 out of the 4 Greece missions, but you only get that cut scene when you beat all 4 so you can be a Colonel if you skip ahead and save the 4th mission in that theater for last!

That sounds so overcomplicated... glad I never played Retaliation :(

It's not that bad, the game uses a map of Europe that has 4 theaters of war highlighted each containing 4 or 5 missions each . You start game with one theater unlocked and when you beat enough missions you "rank up" and unlock the next theater. You can do the missions have unlocked in any order you want and you don't have to do all the missions in a theater before moving on to the next one.
The way the Retaliation only cut scenes work is you get 2 per theater one for starting it and another for doing all the missions in it plus one more cut scene for beating all the missions in the game so at the end of the game you get 2 scenes in a row.

This mission has a different narrative in Retaliation, Stavros is not in Greece but is instead on a secret mission in Siberia (the second Allied theater of war) gathering information from Allied spies.
Both Carville's briefing and the mission text reflect this.

Retaliation mission text posted:

After a secret rendezvous with one of our spies, Stavros has been ambushed by Soviet forces.
The information that Stavros carries is critical to our campaign against the Soviets' Siberian operations -- It must be recovered!
Use Tanya to escort Stavros to a nearby friendly outpost and evac him via helicopter . If anything should happen, get Stavros to safety any way possible.
He must be kept alive!
As far as I remember this is the only mission this happens to.

Huh... I wonder why they changed it, because that just means this game shares the Snake Eater timeline where the Soviet Union nukes itself.

Each theater has it's own narrative though some do it better than others , The first theater is about stopping the Soviets Sarin gas and saving civilians ( you haven't done that mission yet ),
The second theater is about saving Stavros and using his info to disrupt Soviet operations in the area.

I am omitting the Tesla tank because, much like those seen on the Allied side, and the ATS seen previously, they are modifications to existing units/sprites rather than new units entirely.

I'm pretty sure the Tesla Tank gets a unique Sprite in aftermath.

This is the default first mission for the Soviets in Retaliation , this lead me to believe that the Soviets researched what happened here and developed the Tesla Tanks from they learned.

Unless I missed it somewhere I don't think you showed off the intro for retaliation.
