I heard a story once that Tony Sirico always did his own hair and never let the makeup people touch it, the only time he let them gently caress with it was during the Pine Barrens filming.

And that's why his character never, ever wears a pull over. It's always button up shirts, because he didn't want his hair to get messed.

Why wouldn't you put the pullover shirt on first, then do your hair?

Because allegedly he was going to see his barber before coming to work. He'd not have the costume with him so wouldn't be able to put it on before having his hair done.

Plus I imagine there'd be circumstances on set where you'd have to take your shirt on and off again, you couldn't be sure you wouldn't mess it up later.

my favorite things about this scene beyond the obvious are that a. you can see the Virgin Mary in the mirror before Paulie turns and b. that's the same song that was playing when Chrissy barged into the Bing with a gun

I recently read the Sepinwall book and was surprised that they didn't have anything to say about that scene; it's not even mentioned in the episode recap

It is.

The posts he wrote here (and also his Wire thread) were just as long and more entertaining than the published stuff I've read for those shows. I PM'd him to urge him to publish that poo poo. Or at least try. None of the Sopranos books I've read were any good

I did too.

Especially since I could theoretically profit off my slight contributions to The Wire book

I just read the actor who played Matthew Bevilaqua/ the kid from A Bronx Tale was involved in the murder of off duty cop in real life. He did some time in the can on a related charge.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lillo_Brancato

Interestingly, it sounds somewhat similar to Christopher’s murder of the cop who supposedly whacked his dad, including his own drug problems.

Brancato was the only person besides Gannascoli that was specifically not invited to the first convention in 2019 because of the that. Gannascoli was because he's an rear end in a top hat and other cast members didn't want him there.

Brancato also had a history of drug problems unfortunately. I don't know if he still has drug issues, but he has for a lot of his life.

Wasn't he trying to sell some Soprano's themed pasta sauce or something? Of all the cast I keep hearing his name as the guy who relentlessly tries to cash in on his Sopranos cred.

A friend of mine works at a food packing plant that's bottled sauce for Steve Schirripa so Gannascoli decided to check them out. He was really full of himself and unpleasant to be around so they didn't end up making a deal with him.

Gannascoli also made a bunch of claims about his relationship with Gandolfini only after he died.

I think the rest of the cast called him out on it too with a "Jimmy didn't even like you very much" in most cases.

I can never get over how the so called "executive" card game in the series makes no sense as some massive money maker. It was 2 civilians, Johnny Sac and Silvio. After the end the only major source of money is what they got from Dave Scatino showing up and getting like $50k. If the final take was supposedly 80 boxes of ziti, that means had he not shown up they've have made like $30k max.

I also just assume it probably works like a casino and they rake a percentage of the pot; if the stakes are high enough it's just free money, if you can make some more from loan sharking at the same time that's just gravy
