https://soundcloud.com/badcombina/pass4/s-chxCz Working on this as a collab with a vocalist (Who seem to be very afk at the moment, maybe my music just sucks ) - any suggestions on the instrumental highly appreciated!

So Math posted:Your track definitely leaves a lot of room for the vocals. Without knowing what's supposed to fit there, I'd say it does a good job outlining chords and marking the tempo. I might dial the reverb back a little bit. If the style allows it, it would be really cool to hear an instrument doubling up with the vocals in the second verse, or even some kind of countermelody. That’s my thinking as well, as I don’t want to push my collaborator too far into just my vision i left it pretty open for now until I get some stems to play around with! I really do hope it’s still on, it’s one of my fav tracks I’ve done so far at least.

https://soundcloud.com/badcombina/all-the-things-i-want-demo This weekend I learnt that I either need to take vocal lessons or leave that poo poo to pros. Opting more for the later part. But hey had fun at least.

MrSargent posted:I realized I am terrible about uploading my beats to SoundCloud and am forcing myself to post stuff once a week even if it isn't "finished". Here is an original beat I wrote and I recorded a lot of the instrumentation live. I was pretty happy with how it turned out considering I mostly make sample-based stuff. Just picked up a Fender Squier JBass and have been trying to add some funky bass lines to my productions. I think this one didn't turn out half bad considering I have only been playing for a couple months. Will give you feedback this afternoon! Do you want it straight on the track in Soundcloud or here? If someone wants to critique my work in progress go nuts: https://soundcloud.com/badcombina/muffle-bourbon-wed/s-WxcJX

I think you really nailed that Boom-Bap style. I really recommend the "one beat a week" style. If not do what I do and upload poo poo private only. Just to feel like you get some progress. It's kinda cool going back like 18 weeks now and see how much I've evolved and what mistakes I made back then. You could even start sampling yourself after a while - a remix of a remix of a remix of an original creation
