Another Bat idea: have him on a mission where he constantly kills people on accident while trying to do his thing. Tries to pull that Batmobile shockram maneuvre and splatters the goon into the next wall. Fractures the skulls of a couple of muggers. Accidental Batarang to the eye. Show Batman growing more and more desperate as he seemingly just can't not brutally kill criminals.

(It also indirectly makes Bruce King Arthur, but the dumb and corrupted one who uses the sword for his own selfish ego and causes calamity as a result)
-The scene where Lois throws the spear down the well is not only a reference to the Lady of the lake returning the sword, but also a baptismal of Superman, who's cleansed and reborn.

That spear works on a lot of levels and it's actually impressive how much meaning they manage to squeeze in to that one item

There's always room for weird stories where Joker is free to sort of run Gotham for real when Batman's distracted by some world-ending threat. Could show how he handles the forces of Darkseid or whatever; maybe Gotham, with all its freaks and super-criminals, will be weirdly ready to fight a bunch of parademons, stuff like that.

Theres a quote from the liner notes from Junkie XL that really struck me as a perfect summary of Snyders approach and why he does what he does with superhero movies.


So yeah, people are absolutely right to maybe say something like "not my Superman/Batman!" but what exactly makes your Superman the Superman or the one that deserves a movie franchise? Money? It was there. Fans? Clearly there. Twitter?

There is a base framework for these mythic archtypes we call comicbook heroes and IMO you have a lot of flexibility to go hogwild if you want before it veers off into purely aesthetic adaptation(something like Batman Ninja).
