I'm feeling a weird sense of deja vu in my right shoulder. Like it's been used to bust another cheap-as-poo poo apartment door in. If this happens a third time I'm probably going to get plain shot. c/p from discord  Went inside, got her up. Nothing obviously broken, but to make the noises I heard two apartments away she was probably tossed around like a pillow. Ambo took her to the hospital, spent an hour+ outside giving the cops a statement and answering questions, even though I saw the dude for like five seconds. Here's the thing, these apartments are sold on how quiet they're supposed to be. Like, the landlord will cancel your lease, it's part of the terms, if you're loud. They care a lot about noise, and make this very clear. The first eight months here? Silent. Then this happens, and for twenty minutes everyone right next to the guy didn't do anything? Like I said, I thought it was furniture moving until I went into the bathroom and heard screaming, realized it wasn't furniture. Everyone else had to hear that from the beginning though. Tbh feel kinda like poo poo leaving it sit for those twenty minutes anyway.

I can hear my upstairs neighbors pretty good when they're roughhousing with their dog (big rear end dog that looks like a pit bull, probably is a pit bull [not allowed here, but I'm cool with pit bulls and have no issues with the neighbors, so I'm not gonna go tattle to the landlord], super friendly when I've run into their dog outside), and the one time they got in a fight since I moved in I could sorta them yelling. To give an example of how quiet this suburb is... in 10 years, there's been less than 10 murders, and it's a suburb of over 75k. (but we're up to 2 murders this year alone.. one of them across the street from my apts  ).

It's in the old part of town where every yard is secured well with high fences and cameras. Seems to be the path theives take to get to the new developments. The amount of times me and my neighbour have been asked for our footage for continuity of criminal acts is amazing.

There really isn't an "old" part of town in this 'burb, relatively speaking - the city wasn't even incorporated until the mid 1970s, and back then it was mostly farmland and one main road. The bulk of the houses within city limits are less than 15 years old (I'd say a large chunk are <10 years) - my apartment complex is one of the oldest apartments in the city (if not the oldest), and it was built in 2004. I know of one neighborhood that's from the 90s, and one very small one from the 70s. There's one street (the main north/south corridor through town - the one main road mentioned above) that has a bunch of stuff from the late 70s/early 80s, and the city has been buying up all of that land - according to a news article I found recently, they're planning to raze it and sell it all as a package deal to a developer for a large mixed-use development (over 100 acres). There's a bit of an uproar over that, since apparently several of the business owners didn't find out until very recently. One of them just finished a massive remodel (basically a full gut and re-do, they were closed for several months) of their restaurant, inside and out, only to find out it's getting torn down in about a year - they didn't know the city had bought the land it sits on. There's no "downtown" area aside from two shopping strips on that main road, and they're getting razed. All of the city owned buildings (city hall, police station, library, etc) are a few miles away. I think the library is the oldest city-owned structure that hasn't been knocked down and rebuilt at some point (I think it was built in the mid 80s), though it sits across the street from the sparkling new police station/courthouse. PROGRESS! So mom does accounting for a small mom and pop consignment shop. She'd noticed some... weird stuff going on. Cash missing from the safe and register. A TON of missing inventory. Employees mentioning stuff disappearing from their purses/bags. They do on-site sales for clients as well, and clients had started complaining about things disappearing. The owner's sister had an employee in her home recently, and a lot of jewelry and cash went missing (5 figures). The company itself is pretty shady (IMO anyway - they have everyone as contractors, for starters, except for a couple of people), but this was far beyond the normal shenanigans. She finally set up a cheap wifi camera in their second storefront (it's a retail space in the same shopping center, but only used for storage - but their router's wifi reached far enough for the camera to work). They caught a newer employee coming in in the middle of the night, and walking out with a ton of stuff. No alarm in the second space, only in the primary space. He didn't have a key.... Welp, police gave him a little visit, armed with the video (and a search warrant). They found more cash than I've made in the past 3 years combined, plus receipts from pawn shops, jewelry shops that buy used jewelry, lots of guns, fake IDs (turns out he wasn't working under his real ID).... a lot of the receipts matched stuff missing from the store and the owner's sister. Did I mention the owner's sister had claimed a bunch of diamond jewelry went missing after said employee had dropped by to help her with stuff? The store also has incredibly sloppy bookkeeping - they don't record model #s or serial #s of, say, wine coolers (like the wine cooler that went missing). They rarely even take pictures of anything - they're supposed to, but you're lucky to get 1 picture per 20 or 30 items. This person's mother also works for the company.  And according to the police, #1 Son is very well known to them and has ties to cartels. His mom wasn't known to them (until now), but they live in the same house (... he's well into his 40s). She was the one tasked with taking pictures of inventory. She also had a key to the storage storefront.loving zoiks, man. She needs to GTFO.

Glad you helped the girl, QC. gently caress noisy neighbors. Mine (duplex) were screaming and yelling and we could hear it through the walls. I thought someone OD'd or his girlfriend was about to get the crap beat out of her something fierce, so I called the cops. They ignored the cops knocking on their door for about ten minutes, too, but I they eventually got it all sorted. Haven't seen them since, heard them, but not seen them.

The first apartment I ever bought was a little place in a quiet, cozy older residential district of the city. Except the downstairs neighbour was a raging alcoholic rear end in a top hat in his 70s whose one joy in life other than constantly being drunk day in day out, was irritating the poo poo out of his wife by singing at the top of his lungs until she started screaming at him. This would go on for hours, sometimes. The one saving grace was that it never happened in the evenings or at night (because he was out drinking in the nearby park), so it was only really a problem on the occasional weekend morning where he got home early enough in the morning for us to not have gone out yet. I was in that neighbourhood the other week and he's still up to his old tricks, 6 years later. I'm amazed he's not dead yet, with the amount of grain spirit mixed with water (local welfare alcoholic drink of choice) he drinks. That's my noisy neighbour story

The old lady 4 houses down tried to open our front door two days after I changed the locks and she was pissed that we had the gall to do so. See she was a friend of the previous owner so that clearly gave her free reign to just waltz in whenever she pleased.
