I hope this ends up fun. I am not exactly "hopeful" hopeful, but we can wait and see!

I am kind of expecting Cyberpunk to come out and fall flat, but this is a real kick in the nuts. Can't say I am exactly excited about the game now tbh.

NutritiousSnack posted:I definitely want Obsidian to make this when there last game was "A Competent Fallout 3 with a plot that no one remembers outside of center of the road liberalism that pretended to be socialist themes" and "So-So sequel that sets things up for another sequel that might never come out" They are dead if you want the graphical set up to be top notch. I personally really really loved Disco Elysium. But I think the problem with RPG design in "the big leagues" is that they are trying to tell a story whilst also reacting to choice. That seems to be extremely hard to do for a bunch of reasons.

Alchenar posted:Every time they've tried this outside of buying an established developer (Triumph, Harebrained - although HBS have gone dead silent on their projects since takeover!) it's been a disaster. They've spent over-the-odds on niche IP that nobody cares about and they don't have the capacity to build new development teams outside of the core PDX studios and properly oversee their progress. I wonder why? Is it people at the top not understanding how to do these things, or a more general problem?

I also just don't like the idea of "generations" in terms of vamps. I like the fact that in Requiem you can have someone from the middle of the roman empire still get clowned on by someone whose only been around for a decade or two. They tried to add that with Masquerade but it doesn't QUITE work.
