Tech used just 7 pitchers this weekend. Barely used our bullpen to sweep the regional.

This is pretty bad: https://twitter.com/TreyWallace_/status/1135273925016002562 comes with an automatic 4 game suspension.

Tech faces OSU in Lubbock. Tech swept the series earlier this year in Lubbock, which really was the start of Tech's run up to a super host spot.Neodoomium posted:Michigan is currently up 16-5 with the bases loaded on Creighton in the bottom of the 7th. Narrator: It was.

So of the regional hosts, we lost Oregon State, West Virginia and both Georgia teams. UCLA, Stanford, Louisville, and ECU all did it the hard way, playing 5 games along the way.

Tech vs OSU game 1 was a good one. Gabe Holt had as lovely a day as you could imagine. Draft eligible sophomore, picked in the 7th round, so got $$ on his mind. Jung (2-5, HR) came out as flat as a guy with that stat line could. Wilson (7) and Fulford (9) seemed to be figuring something out at the plate, though. Warren may have thrown just a few too many (just under 40) to come close tomorrow. Floyd tweaked his knee during a pitch and might need a day or two's rest as well. 1 more win for the CWS

Tech loses to OSU on a walk off wild pitch. Tech's bullpen sucked butt today.

Baseball is an interesting game to me. You build your team to take advantage of your home stadium. Dan Law is a mid-sized park with winds that swing during the season, so Tadlock built a team of good hitters that can pull the ball to either left or right field. It means we hit a good number of HR's at home, but also a lot of extra base hits. His pitchers tend to be strikeout guys, or good at inducing fly balls that just don't quite make it out of our park. Tech is probably going to be building a new baseball stadium soon. Dan Law is capped at around 5k, with not much room for temp seats for things like regionals. What you want to bet that the new stadium's dimensions and orientation will be almost identical to Omaha's?

Konstantin posted:Doubtful, TD Ameritrade is an extreme pitcher's park. If any team builds their home park like that they will have a hard time recruiting power hitters. Tadlock doesn't really recruit for HR's anyway. He likes guys who can pinpoint extra base hits to different parts of the field. Definitely a more boring type of baseball, though. I wonder if they ever modify TD's outfield to make it a bit more home-run friendly, considering that it's really only a college stadium at this point.

Yikes. Heavy bracket favorites face off for an elimination match. Tech played a poo of a game today. 2 bad plays by the catcher plus an error gave up 3 of the 5 runs, and 3 runs on 9 hits is pretty bad for a college team. So many stranded runners and missed opportunities. A leadoff single and double only scoring one is sad.

drat. I didn't want to be facing No 11 until the Friday/Saturday elimination games. I don't want to see FSU in an elimination game...

Gotta take 2 from Michigan. We'll have Micah Dallas, Lanning (our weekday starter) and everyone from the pen available tomorrow. Killian may be available on 4 days rest along with the other of Dallas and Lanning if we make it to Saturday. One of these games is going to have to either be pitch by committee or Lanning giving a quality start. Either in the Saturday elim vs Michigan (if we make it), or during the championship series (again, if we make it). Fascinating bit of strategy there. If you pitch Dallas Friday, you won't be able to use him until the Champ finale. If you pitch Killian Saturday, you won't be able to use him at all in the champ series. My guess is that Tadlock sends Dallas out Friday for his 3rd time vs Michigan (because if you can't get to the bracket finale, what good is all of this), then tries Lanning Saturday with a short leash and Killian from the pen. Champ rotation becomes Bonnin, Killian, Dallas.
