My head hurts.
Now, I've never seen Hancock. But I know everyone says it sucks. But it was written by Vince Gilligan, who wrote Breaking Bad and some of the best episodes of the X Files. So why did it suck? Did he just have an off day? Did the producers completely gently caress up his vision? Maybe he's just only good at the TV format and not movies. Seems fishy to me.

It wasn't that bad, it just had a weird twist and wasn't exactly what people expected. People don't like movies that gently caress with them, good movie or not.

It's decent. The first half is great, second half falls a bit flat.

I think I read that it was supposed to have a more serious tone, but then they Will Smith'ed the gently caress out of the beginning half, and then tried to make it serious again at the end, didn't work at all

Hancock's Half Hour was funnier than Gilligan's Island, but Gilligan's Island had two hot chicks in it.

cool premise and the reason they get and lose their powers was interesting. seemed like a good idea for a TV series more than a movie, let the mystery of gaining and losing abilities over the years be the focus, never realizing it was because you kept getting close, then farther away from your soul mate or w/e

like the opposite of that cloak/dagger show

Hancock is a movie about finding your true love, and then not being with them, because you'd rather live forever lonely as gently caress, than die like one of those idiot mortals

it's possible there might have been a halfway decent script at some point, but if so you can't really tell from the final result.

Hancock is about realising if you and your ultimate smash are both immortal then there's no real downside to postponing your 50-100 years of wedded bliss for a few more centuries.
