Kind of ironic really cause if you look at the races minus Bautista, the new rules are definitely working to curb jayray and Kawasak. Solid battles for the 'lead' and small winning margins. Just really bad timing for the organizers. Now just gotta hope the balance swings the other way on the stop-go tracks or Ducati are walking away with the title. I think even with less top end it won't make much difference beyond making the gap smaller, Bautista's tire conservation is a cut above the rest so Kawasaki's hopes pretty much rest on the v4 having handling deficiencies on the slower tracks + him being unfamiliar with some of the circuits.

My theory on melandri's wobble is he prefers the old style smooth turn in off the brakes ala Yamaha Lorenzo, but the bikes and tires are designed to be trail braked heavily, so he deliberately runs a really steep front end to keep the turn-in easy and just deals with the shaking. The penalty zone idea is awesome imo, hard to implement everywhere though.

The "long lap penalty" has been decided and is a go: http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2019/03/01/long-lap-penalty-introduced/284714 quote:At every circuit a route will be defined and marked at a safe point around the track, (usually an asphalt runoff area outside of a turn), which is some seconds slower than the normal racing line. The penalised rider must ride through the defined area within 3 laps of being notified, thereby suffering a penalty equivalent to several seconds, (typically 2 or more seconds), on that lap. Procedures will be in place to enable the Stewards to use an equivalent time penalty in case the rider is unable to complete the Long Lap, (e.g. in case of a red flagged race). Good day of races. The Suzukis are looking good, they should be threatening for wins on tracks that don't have long straights that favour the Duc's and Hondas. Felt bad for Quartararo stalling on the warm up lap, he definitely had the pace to be top Yamaha if he hadn't had to start from pit lane.

He got fired and banned for a certain amount of time, not sure how much though. And Moto3 is a demotion for him, he was in Moto2 before. I thought it was kinda weird how the commentators were talking him up though as if he was a reformed man and a real rags to riches hero redemption story. He deliberately tried to seriously injure someone on a race track, guys. But who knows, Colin was part of that discussion and he wasn't complaining, maybe I'm wrong.

That was a good race. It seemed like Marquez was particularly, unusually desperate to get the win at the end there, even by his standards. I'm going to try super hard to actually follow a full season of road racing this year, despite my DVR already eating WSBK Race 1 (which is on Saturday now??) All three races were good this weekend but I got a kick out of Moto3 especially. What's the best site for MotoGP and WSBK news these days? I'm mostly looking for qualifying results and race recaps, plus any between-weekend drama.

Well Zarco threw his career away. Hope the checks are big enough to compensate... Looks like it's going to be another good Marquez/Dovi fight through the season. Also Quateraro will do well if he stops stalling it.

That was a good race. Marquez is absurdly good at riding. It's ridiculous how he just doesn't crash. He definitely tried to sit dovi up in that last turn but ended up losing in exactly the same way again. Also ridiculous how Rossi is still riding so well. Not particularly good qualifying but from 14th to 5th is crazy. Not a bad start by Petrucci, but not great. Still better than Iannone who crashed on the lap after the race... RIP, Zarco. Better than KTM than last year but not as good as Pol Espargaro this year. I'm holding out hope they pour in a billion jillion dollars and make a good bike so he can go storming through the field again but I don't think it's happening. Lorenzo with 3 points in 13th.  Much better than last year's DNF. Announcers compared Crutchlow to braveheart. Makes sense. Post race interview "someone hit me with a footpeg in the left buttcheek." I feel bad for Quateraro too, but at least he knows he can go fast now. It'll be interesting to see how well he does. Marquez interview at the end - he's almost likeable at first when he's being genuine and then he keeps talking for a while and becomes more and more PR machine which boo. Just embrace joyous villainy! Fenati sucks, but maybe he's learned his lesson? (he hasn't, but you know, maybe?)

So if Lorenzo starts owning on the Honda, would that make Marquez the hero? Assuming the sheer impossibility of George being anything but an insufferable oval office when he wins. I like him when he's losing cause he's surprisingly humble and doesn't make too many excuses, but when he wins and its full on campionado El mamboso El magnifico time I'll back horse tooth puta every time.

A little late with this one, but OW! Lorenzo diagnosed with fissure of the first rib After a CAT scan, Repsol Honda Team and Jorge Lorenzo have confirmed via social media that the number 99 rider has suffered a fissure to the first rib on the right side. The five-time World Champion suffered a nasty highside at Turn 6 in FP3 and despite being declared fit for the rest of the weekend, a scan on Tuesday revealed his most recent injury setback. The injury will take three to four weeks to heal, with Lorenzo vowing to fight at the Argentina GP, which takes place in just over two weeks’ time.

Yes they are worth watching, moto2 is up and down depending on how many top tier guys are racing at the front at any given time but this year they're using a completely new kind of engine so the bikes are totally different and noone really knows what will happen. Moto3 is total madness and carnage 95% of the time as it consists of horny teenagers on bikes able to draft on even relatively short straights so 10-20 bike groups fighting for the lead the entire race isn't unusual.

Yeah as Slavvy said, 3 is amazing chaos and hugely entertaining, though I haven’t watched this race yet. 2 has been boring at times but with the move to the Triumph motor everything could be a bit weird this year as teams try to learn it and riders learn to adapt. Some may not! So it might be a good time to start. If you watch both over a couple seasons you’ll start to see the future GP riders emerge, which is interesting. Over the last few seasons I’ve watched every GP and 3 race and maybe a third of the 2 races.
