To wildly setup spec:

I think this is a 10 to 1 cult game, with possible 3p (or a two-man scumteam) to basically prevent us from headshotting the cult leader D1 and winning immediately for town. But I could, of course, be wrong. The real interesting bit of information for setup spec will be how many people, IF ANY, die N1.

I entirely agree with this. Optimal play is generally boring. Taking stupid risks for fun makes mafia enjoyable.

On the wild setup spec front, I would be unsurprised for it to be traditional scum + SK. Just because the kill flavors are the same doesn't mean that scum + SK is impossible.

Let's look at it from both perspectives (it's a joke vs. it's not a joke):

It's a joke: If it's a joke, or town gambit, then the purpose would be (I assume) to draw out scum votes as a "honey pot" of sorts. The logic here being; "It's so obvious a joke that only scum would take it to the point of crafting a narrative to cast shade on the joker." That could very well be the case here. This is the only logical reason I can think of that answers the question how a gambit like that could be pro-town. I guess it's up to town to decide the likelihood of this being the case with Sol's scumclaim.

It's not a joke: If it's not a joke, the purpose (I think) would be to simply play in a manner that's "too dumb to be scum" and thus cultivating town cred right off the bat whilst simultaneously advancing a reverse psychology ploy to not only craft more town cred by illustrating the flaw in the claim (that Tobbs is a scumbro, and by killing Tobbs and flipping them town shows the "jokiness" of the scum-claim) but also to frame flerp which is reinforced by the following post:

with what Sol is putting forward as a theory about scum-team set-up, I think it very likely that Sol is 3P at the very least and perhaps either trying to coordinate in thread with another unknown scum player (as evidenced by two NKs, I don't think the mod would have to necessarily divulge that info in a PM) or trying to suss out the other 3P/scum that could be adversarial to Sol.

Or it could really be that it's a town gambit to "honey pot" scum voters.

First bolded part is not sincere. Second part of it is.

I actually have done this to draw out scum votes before, I don't think it succeeded this time. I mostly drew out a newbie voting on principle and a few joke votes. Nothing like scum trying to pile on an easy lynch.

I'm not entirely sure what point you're trying to make re: my theories about scumteam setup? Are you thinking that the two-scum-team thing was my theory? It isn't. It's idle setup spec regardless, and can be safely disregarded.

I also don't think you're coming from a disingenuous argument, I do think that you're willing to jump on it to the exclusion of any others. I'm not sure if this makes you scummy enough to seriously vote yet, but you are coming across as the scummiest one here, which means I need to look at someone else and see if I'm getting odd vibes off of you.

I also don't think flerp is scum just because tobbs died, and saying that I'm intentionally trying to not-frame frame flerp because of that, well. You either have a very high opinion of my ability to play mindgames, or you're reaching. A lot.

I think the greater part of me wants to look elsewhere. I'm thinking players that are participating a whole lot. I'm looking at ASF in this regard. Would vote Onset if it comes down to the wire (deadline is tonight I believe).

I generally agree with this read of onset.

It's sad but I don't think they're long for this world, town or not. Though I don't think it's reasonable to want to lynch them today (barring something changing).
