Speaking of the Elite 4 - I just beat the champion on my most recent replay of Leafgreen!

for all of the lack of QoL in the old games, they're still incredibly satisfying to play. Partially because the game isn't afraid to kick your rear end a little - I spent a couple hours grinding to top off my team's levels, and I still got bodied by the Elite 4 three times! (once by Lorelei, once by Lance, and once by Blue) Though, if they hadn't, my Dragonite still would've been a Dragonair - it evolved right before the champion fight.

(potato quality b/c I'm playing off my old cartridge via gamecube, rather than emulator :v:)

Which made absolutely no sense.

Why make her signature Pokemon one that had already appeared as somebody else's signature Pokemon?

The “gimmick” of dark-type trainers is that they’re incredibly wholesome people, usually from an underprivileged background. “Use your favorites” is a common refrain in the later series, but I don’t remember anyone saying it before Karen, and it was fairly novel coming from the series’ first dark specialist who was incidentally also top dog of the elite 4.

A silly little mouse!
Blaines theme is that he's some kinda mad scientist, a profession known for flaming beakers and fiery explosions, at least in RBG. He wears a lab coat, is in a quiz gym, and everything on Cinnabar is related to mad science. Even in HGSS his gym is exclusively staffed by scientists. For some reason the anime made him some kind of hippie.

I beat a pokemon emerald nuzlocke :)

that electrode killed 4 of wallace's pokemon. he truly was a great ball

rules were: base nuzlocke faint=death and only catching first pokemon of each route, no item use in battle, can't level pokemon any higher than the next gym leader's highest level pokemon(or champion's after gym 8).
revisiting gen 3 reminded me how terrible so many pokemon's learnsets are. tentacool doesn't learn a water type move until level 25. when electrode reaches level 48 it learns loving swift

Losing the starter and Machoke must have been rough.

Also, Crown comes out next week. I don't know where this month went...

Oh, I didn't mention but I just got rid of the starter immediately bc I think that makes things more boring, even in a normal run.

the machoke was trained up from a machop for a specific gym and then immediately died partway into the fight lol

So I haven't paid much attention to the dlc, is it post-game? Is there an ideal level to start Armour at? Def going in with a fresh team.

Isle of Armor is available as soon as you get to the Wild Area for the first time.

The Isle of Armor and the Wild Area both scale their level based on how many gyms you've completed.

This is a lot of fun to do. A few summers ago I restarted my Emerald game and set out on a challenge to fill the National Dex, which wound up taking me through all the games in that Generation. I'm lucky enough to have the Jirachu bonus disk, which let me finish at around 383 or 384.

I thought they just had a 'before you beat the E4' and 'after you beat the E4' scaling? So you can either do it at levels 10ish or have everything scaled up in the 60s in postgame.

It’s the same scaling as the wild area I believe. So it has 4 or 5 badge checks that go from level 10 to 60. Crown Tundra might be a little higher than that level if they expect you to have beaten Isle of Armor already.

Quick question: does anyone know if it's possible to change the pokeball of a fossil pokemon via PkHex in Platinum?

I don't care about legality because the game's emulated as is, but I'd like to stick my cranidos in a heavy ball for *~style~* but for whatever reason, it stays as a Pokeball. That's hardly stylish at all!

e: this doesn't count as :filez: because I'm not pointing to where to get the rom file, right? :tinfoil:
