On one hand I'm happy that Lucian is either getting back to himself or realizes he needs a lot of help. On the other... Gurl, wha?

Right before the 2016 election he posted a bunch of racist stuff calling people the nword, posting his flaccid dick pics, and saying the Clintons murderers and stuff (I'll give him that last one). He may have also said some transphobic stuff, I don't remember. But basically it was a very messy public meltdown where he didn't log off until he was permanently banned from Twitter.

Lucian is also a Sandy Hook denier and suggested that maybe [satan voice] ARIANA GRANDE [/satan voice] had something to do with the bombing that killed 22 people at her show. Question tho. Hasn't he claimed the weed defense before?

I took a break from drag race for a while and I just got around to watching DRUK, I'm up to snatch game now. Oh my god how refreshing it is! It's so lighthearted and joyful, I think the judging is mostly about right so far, they aren't overselling the drama or the social justice corner or axing someone good to make way for someone else's storyline, it just feels much less heavily edited and like the queens are having so much fun. It's a showcase of drag talent. I love this season and DDC in particular. I think the Vivienne's Trump impression was incredibly good but I'm still pretty tired of it as a thing. But I'm an American so that probably doesn't help that I see like 50x more of it. It got me thinking about playing male characters in Snatch Game. I do think the Vivienne's Trump character was dragged up enough to feel like it fit in Snatch Game, despite not being a person tied to gay culture, which I generally prefer. But it felt like a performance of that brand of toxic hypermasculinity that turns around into being super camp, so it felt like it fit. Whereas I did not think Sum Ting's Attenborough fit at all. Maybe that was due to her giving a weak performance, but I didn't get much in the way of a performance of gender or queerness or camp, so it felt out of place for me. I think there's something worth exploring in the crusty old male British academic/explorer archetype. I guess this is turning into a What Is Drag? post, sorry, ha. DDC for the crown.

I'm on a twitter break, can someone post some screenshots for me to enjoy. I've only just clocked that fishy is dodgy af because fish is a derogatory term for women.

Hollow Eve wasn't wrong when they said that the term embodied the assumption that women and vaginas are an inextricably linked thing.

I'm rewatching season 2 and a few observations: -Raven's phone call with his mom felt akward. When she answered she didn't know who he was. I don't know if it was bad editing or what, but I cringed. -Jujubee is trashed during her lip sync with Sahara and it's amazing. I heard that she drank everyones drinks during Untucked and this created a rule of amounts of alcohol consumed. -Morgan seems so boring. She was boring even in AS3. This is weird because I've seen YouTube videos of her and she always turns it out. Like Drag Race Morgan is bland, and outside she is outstanding. Don't know why. -it sucks that Sahara passed. She was super talented and I think would have killed on AS. -Jujubee is still one of my favories. -Tyra still deserved the win.

Reddit says we are getting celebrity drag race/as5/season 12 in that order and they seem to somehow have their poo poo together about this one thing It’s weird how they seem to always film all stars last but air it first but I assume there’s some sensible production reason I’m not aware of

Rumor is S12 before AS5 now. Which, more time between AS seasons could be good.

If I remember correctly, when they weren't filming, they made her stay in basically a closet with a folding chair and no food or water. She had no say in how they dressed her, it was all pre planned. She thought that production treated her terribly, and she never wanted any involvement with the show again.

Yeah I like the cast a lot it was a fine season it just feels very disconnected from previous seasons for some reason. I’d like to blame the untucked change but I wasn’t watching untucked alongside the show until I got to season 8 and was watching it week by week

I think part of it comes from people disliking Violet and a lot of people not wanting Pearl to have gone as far as she did (which...I disagree, but...understandable.) If you look at the cast list alone, it was an incredible loving season!

The cast was amazing but the challenges suuuuuucked. When Violet said that she was "sick of these group acting challenges" she summed it up. Fashion was mainly the cast's strong suit to begin with and we only got a total of one (1) sewing challenge, plus the acting challenges were just horrible and unfunny. If Season 7 had gotten a healthy amount of sewing challenges like we've been getting recently it would've been an incredible season.

Yeah, the acting challenges were extremely bad, which is odd because I feel like it was a very strong Snatch Game overall. But acting challenges are always horrendous- "Breast World," anyone? I've seen elementary school ESL presentations that were more coherent than that poo poo.

Yeah, I think this was a big part of it. But, I'll also share my pet theory again. Ru has a strong idea of who she wants to win each year, and who is just cannon fodder. She wouldn't put her two favorites in one season because she'll just save that winner for next season. On the other end, some of these voted first out are generally messes. Does she really think they have what it takes to earn the crown? Hell no. But she is making a TV show, and somebody has to go home first. This was first challenged in season 4 when she planned on giving Chad Michaels the crown. But then Sharon Needles came along, and surprised everyone. Having performed strongly, being a favorite of the fans, and the main opponent of the season villain PhiPhi, there would have been a revolt had she not crowned Sharon. Her plan was foiled again in season 7. She planned to give the crown to Kennedy Davenport. But Kennedy just wasn't bringing it. She struggled in several challenges, and was put in the top in instances when she clearly should have been in the bottom. Ru was dragging Kennedy's corpse to the finish line until she could no longer justify Kennedy taking the crown, and Kennedy was cut loose. She had already cut fan favorite Katya. She hated Pearl. Ginger's negativity had soured her reputation with the fans. Leaving her with Violet? Now, I think Violet has since redeemed herself, and I think that she was worthy of the win. But we got to the final 3, and there was a collective MEH. I don't understand why they just don't bring in some actual comedians to punch up those scripts some. I'm sure Joel Kim Booster or Mano Agapian would absolutely love to get in there and help out.
