shame on an IGA posted:Clint Malarchuk, now that's a real man. Malarchuk is the second most horrifying sports injuries I've seen, and it was kind of sheer chance he actually survived. Their athletic trainer was a Vietnam War combat medic so he knew how to deal with the injury. In interviews Malarchuk said his only thought was to get off the ice because he knew his mom was watching the game on TV and he didn't want her to see him die on camera Dude had OCD, PTSD, recurring nightmares, alcoholism and a suicide attempt. And in 2008, dumbass reporters were like, 'Hey, Clint! This Panthers player also got his neck cut. You wanna weigh in on this?!' But the most horrifying sports incident is 100% Tom Pryce A Welsh race car driver, he's infamously remembered for what happened at the 1977 South Africa Grand Prix. In the 22nd lap, Renzo Zorzi's car suffered engine failure and caught on fire. Two race marshals with fire extinguishers tried to cross the track to assist him. The first barely made it, the second, Frederick Van Vuuren wasn't so lucky. Pryce didn't see him in time as he was behind another car which swerved and missed them, and hit Van Vuuren. The impact tore Van Vuuren in half, and the fire extinguisher he'd been carrying hit Pryce in the helmet with enough force that he was nearly decapitated. Both died instantly, and Van Vuuren's body was so badly mangled that they had to assemble all the marshals to figure out who wasn't there.

Sorry but in terms of racing Zenardi's wins hands down. Dying instantly isn't that bad.

I recall a few years back a young cricketer was Randy Jonhsoned out of existence by a crazy fast bowl straight to the dome. And then a week later one other guy got smashed in the face but managed not to die. Cricket - not even once.

Speaking of the ol' beanball, here's Ray Chapman: This dapper fellow has the MLB record for being the first and only player to get killed by a pitch. Doctored ball during a night game caught him in the head, and to add insult to injury: quote:The sound of the ball smashing into Chapman's skull was so loud that Mays thought it had hit the end of Chapman's bat, so he fielded the ball and threw to first base

Yeah the Malarchuk neck slash was pretty bad. Malarchuk lost 1.5 litres of blood. It took doctors a total of 300 stitches to close the six-inch wound. 2 people at home watching the game had heart attacks because of it. Edit: To add to the Vader eye thing, before the match started Stan Hansen broke Vader's nose when he whacked him with a cowbell. mallratcal fucked around with this message at 15:23 on Mar 4, 2019 |

I've got Malarchuk's autobiography, and that part of it is terrifying. And Sabres backup Jacques Cloutier got to finish the game standing in the giant patch of his blood. And from what my parents told me, not only did everyone watching the game see it live, the news replayed the footage during their broadcast that evening.
