It's always interesting to see how two countries who theoretically share a language can end up using such different terms for things. For example, in Britain we say "pavement," whereas Americans say "sidewalk." We refer to the storage area at the back of a car as the "boot," but Americans say "trunk." We call a place where you fire rifles at targets a "shooting range," while Americans go with the shorter "school." Vive la différence.
