Probably exposure and the oodles of fans who clog the arena during Leafs/Canucks game, but I'm not kidding every poll of "who is the Canucks biggest rival?" always includes the Leafs as an option. It's a very one sided rivalry, as most Canucks rivalries are.

The Canucks also beat the Leafs to make the finals in 94 and when you don't have many franchise highlights the cultural memory of the good ones tend to linger.
