Spending $170 on the deluxe edition of the very bad and boring and depressing and awful game that has terrible characters and no plot resolution and goes on for 50 hours longer than it should and makes a point of punishing the player to drive home their incredibly prophetic message of “revenge is bad” to own the transphobes who haven’t seen a single piece of media about the game and are only saying poo poo to try and rile me up.

Rotten Red Rod posted:

There were some legitimate reasons (bad pacing, needlessly depressing plot, unconvincing ending, gameplay is a tedious slog) but yeah there were a bunch of idiots who were mad that it included a muscular woman and a trans person, and they tended to drown out and taint the legitimate criticism. I recommend these two videos if you want a (non-bigoted) breakdown of the game's issues:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIgThCYaWIk

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2lFauyNMVA

My take is that both games wallow in misery to a degree I find exhausting, but at least the first game had a spark of hope at its core. The second doesn't, or at least what elements it does have don't work, and it just feels like depression porn.

The gameplay of the first one is a tedious slog, which is why I paid zero attention to the second one, thus my not knowing about all this garbage. I never understood why people love that game so much.

It's so CINEMATIC and tells such a GREAT story if you've never consumed a single zombie-related thing, or book, in your life.

Last of Us is great if you're the type to get fully immersed. It's more about the vibe than the gameplay.

Sitzen ein oder mehrere Wipfe in einer Lore, so kann man sie ueber den Rand der Lore hinausschauen sehen.
I haven't played TLOA 2, but I really liked TLOA 1.

I don't remember anything about the gameplay though, just ... atmosphere, characters and the world.
And that postapocalyptic world which somehow settled into the new normal is interesting, and kinda unusual for zombie-games. At least it felt fresh for me.

I'll never get TLOA2, though, I haven't bought any console after my PS3.

Stadia is actually good posted:

I expected a gimmick, but this is working very very well.

I have a lot of normie friends who doesnt really game or want to buy a good pc, but sometimes they want to play solo or with me. Now they can do it even if they have a very scuffed laptop.

Stuff like stadia can lower the barrier to entry for gaming witch is very high imo, because you have to spend a lot of money for something you dont even know you'd like.

Yeah, we (here in this sub) know that. But if you try to post this on r/gaming or similar you can be prepared to be down voted to eternity by ppl who don't want to try something different or just want to be negative¯\(ツ)/¯

Stadia is awesome for the casual gamer. Hardcore gamers depend on a steady stream of new games, they are kind of like binge drinkers compared to somebody who can keep a six-pack in the fridge all week. There's even stop gaming support groups because of the behavioral issues behind gaming. I wouldn't get too upset over the gatekeepers because they have literal addictions.

Stadia made me hero to my GF and her son posted:

Long story short, my GF's son (10) loves to play the GTA mobile games on a crappy hand-me-down phone. I found a used Stadia controller and CC Ultra on FB Market for $27 and got him all set up. He's on my family acct now with another buddy and has access to TONS of games. He never heard of Stadia before but now he's hooked. My GF said he played Mafia III for almost 8 hours straight yesterday and now he's hooked on Wreckfest.

Just wanted to share a positive note!

[Not an Ad (lol)] A benefit of Stadia in the summer posted:

Stadia is really freaking cool. Like literally.

I live in the Pacific Northwest, where every damned apartment building has crappy wall AC units. It was probably okay when these places were built like 30 years ago when summers had 2-3 days over 90 degrees, but nowadays we're breaking 100 quite frequently and sometimes hitting the 110 range. It's awful.

At the start of summer, I started to run into an overheating problem with my PC. I made sure that all fans/vents were clear and clean and even reapplied thermal paste, but it kept getting in the upper 90C range after about 20 minutes into a heavy gaming session (nearly boiling). Eventually I broke down and got a larger case and put like 6 fans in it which solved the overheating problem.

Sort of.

My computer was able to play Borderlands 3 at around 75 Celsius after that; but that heat had to be put somewhere. That somewhere was my gaming room, and it quickly became unbearably hot in here.

I had the baseline Borderlands 3 on my Stadia account, so I decided to give it a try. It was in fact nearly identical to my PC experience, but not nearly as hot. I perused ebay a bit and found a stadia premiere kit brand new and factory sealed for $30, so I picked it up.

I have been hooked on Stadia ever since, which is fantastic given that the temp is hovering around 100 degrees for the next 6 days or so :/

And no this isn't an ad, lol. Believe it or not, people can like this service
