Yes. Google is just being dumb by trying to show off games that require good reaction times and aren't normally limited by internet. There are so many "slower" games that would be fine with having 166ms response time. I mean any turn based games or even multiplayer only games as you limited by your connection anyway.

turn based games are also frequently the ones that least require expensive hardware to run in the first place though (which negates a lot of the advantage of not having to buy your own), and while multiplayer games are indeed connection-limited you're committing to doubling down on the degree to which your experience is degraded by any connection issues/inadequacy and serving games to people in format that makes any hiccups much harder to hide since you don't have a client to fake/cover for it locally and any lack of responsiveness will be observed/felt by the user immediately

Goons did trick each other into investing in Star Citizen.

This guy's shtick is annoying because he doesn't provide any commentary on the poo poo he posts.

tricking people into Star Citizen made some sense to me because while it was an irrational bubble surrounding a scam that is precisely a circumstance where people can (and do/did) make money by exploiting others (via grey market ship trading/associated secondary scams in SC's case)

none of which applies to Stadia

well why not posted:

Again if they’d had the sense to make this into a casual platform with board games and games that don’t require any twitching it’d be fine for cross play. Catan, Cities Skylines, HOI, Stellaris, Stardew Valley etc. how convenient would it be to have your stardew farm in the cloud, or your Skylines cities? Instead they went with Destiny, one of the least accessible games ever.

well the problem there is that then they're competing more directly with mobile games, and much of that list you cited can essentially be run on a toaster so why bother with all the myriad issues streaming video brings?

baffling

You can restrict yourself to console/pc only lobbies via an option, console gets pretty strong auto aim, and this iteration of cod has fairly strong skill-based matchmaking

with cod’s specific mechanics it works much better than you’d think

it says a lot that google couldnt make a fully digital storefront a success during a pandemic

this is an extremely good point, especially given how bad recent the supply issues are with both pc hardware and consoles alike
