I just watched the show last weekend and had the same thought. The third arc was way too long was mostly my problem. I understand what they were going for with Subaru breaking down and succumbing to despair but it really felt like the show was wallowing in it and entire episodes went by with nothing happening because he was too busy freaking out. Everything with the White Whale felt like nothing important is happening too, sure it was an important bargaining chip to get assistance to stop the Witches Cult but surely that could have been resolved without having to put in a 3 episode long mini arc where people just do the naruto run while dragging a sword behind them making whale sashimi.
