That said, if it did work, you could pass dogs around your party by confusing the rippler caster before the spell goes off to get around the "targets enemies only" issue. No need to find an enemy with rippler! ...Unless you somehow end up with no way to inflict confusion. Which is... possible, I guess.

Confirming that the Vargas fight can be a real pain in the rear end depending on what your Sabin stand in rolled. Ask me about fighting Vargas with a Runic Berserker. (I think it only actually took around 3 attempts for the rng to go my way, but still.)
