I think Bounty of Blood was actually my least favorite of the DLCs. Going from bottom to top for me would be:

Bounty of Blood -> Psycho Krieg or whatever it's called -> Love and Tentacles -> the casino one.

Ere to fix yer gubbinz
I think I've been genuinely impressed with all of the season 1 DLCs. Playing on mayhem 10 with properly geared characters has been enjoyable after a long hiatus ( Fade Flak, Drone & Clone Zane and Facepunchin' Amara have been a real blast, Moze still doesn't seem to gel with me ) since release. I can't say that anything released so far for season 2 is showing the same kind of appeal ( although I do concede that the Iron Cub tree might improve my disposition towards Moze - I'm not prepared to drop AUD $45 to find out ).

i played through Bounty Of Blood and while it wasn’t perfect it sure felt better than the vast majority of the base game

I think Bounty of Blood really showcased a lot of what I see wrong with BL3 compared to BL2, which is really similar to how I feel about Bioshock: Infinite compared to Bioshock 1 and 2.

I'd say the mechanics of the game were improved in each case, but the writing got worse and lazier.

That's why I prefer Love and Tentacles and the Handsome Jackpot over the rest of BL3 - both those had better writing than the base game or the other DLCs.

i don’t think it hit the mark all the time but it added a nice flavor, some nice foreshadowing, and the gag where the vault hunter asks him to read the letter for them made me crack up.

one of the reasons i liked it so much was because just like the first game it’s a fairly simplistic story but with a ton of implicit and explicit lore and characters to get invested it without really forcing them on you. it’s like from 2 forward they got increasingly scared of letting the player miss stuff.

looking forward to playing the rest of the dlc.

Another issue for me was that the conflict in Bounty of Blood didn't really feel like it had that endgame gravitas, where the conflict justifies the ludicrous firepower you're bringing to the table. Handsome Jackpot sends you into the bowels of a bleeding-edge Hyperion battlestation. GLT has you go up against an eldritch, mutant cult in thrall to a dead but almighty god. Fantastic Fustercluck has you descend into the bottomless insanity of a Psycho's mind, and uncover the alien secrets hidden within it. Bounty of Blood just has you defend a frontier town from a bandit tribe and their pet dinosaurs. It feels midgame, not endgame, especially given how hard and how early the main campaign of BL3 escalates. The big monster at the end wasn't especially scary by the series's standards, either. There's only so much you can do to make a turtle look cool and intimidating - and yes, I know about alligator snappers, and yes, I still stand by my statement.

i prefer the relatively lower scale stuff tho but even then the gigantic core nuke was one of the more awe inspiring moments of the series, and traversing the crater was pretty powerful as well

I dropped this game right after finishing the main story at release, but January turning into a stressful work month has put me in the mood for a looty shooty. I came back to BL3 and have been surprised by how much fun I’ve had with it.

Just got done beating the dlc stories with Moze. She’s a ton or fun and I’ve found a few truly amazing guns for her, so she’s all ready for end game takedowns or whatever.

My only minor complaint with Moze is that as fun as she is, she doesn’t feel very versatile. Like, I can’t fathom a Moze build that isn’t all in on explosions and super fast rate of fire weapons. I’m thinking of leveling either an Amara or a Fl4k to give me some different playstyles to experiment with.

Just curious if anyone has thoughts on which of those two would offer more interesting options alongside my Moze. Sorry for the big weird effort post. I’m honestly clueless about the non Moze vault hunters at the moment, but I’d rather not sit through some clickbait youtube top ten reasons to use this vault hunter garbage. Goons are usually a more interesting source of nerdy wisdoms than that.

I play solo pretty much all the time, and Fl4k has a skill where your pet can revive you out of fight for your life that was really handy.

They'll discuss the upcoming Director's Cut DLC at length next week. I'm curious if anything got added from what 2K accidentally let slip, but I hope they're not going to gate the raid doors behind a paywall.

I just dropped back into the game to try out some of Zanes new skills, and did they up the drop rate on Wotan? It's a sample size of one but it dropped 5 Redistributors and 2 Moonfires.

New Borderlands Show updates:

*Director's Cut was everything from the 2k Store leak. It includes the Varkid raid boss behind the door.

*The cost to fight the raid boss is 500 eridium. This was even more than the secret Drifter raid boss in 2 iirc.

*There will be another loot hunt for real(!) prizes in March.

*They're introducing Battlepasses. Somehow.

*Tales from the Borderlands is going to be back in digital stores next week.

*They can't comprehend why people don't like Ava, but conceded that Ava being responsible for Maya getting dusted is "one point of view."

According to Gearbox, quite a bit of context around Ava was cut out so we only saw like half her character, or something.

If that's true (narrator: it is not true) it would explain why she is just shallow and intensely annoying. It makes me wonder if a lot of content with the twins was cut (narrator: it was not) leaving them similarly shallow and dumb.

I think the more likely explanation is the writing just sucked balls overall compared to other Borderlands games.

The twins always struck me as "What if we made 2 Handsome Jacks that were also millennials?"

The characters personalities stuck the landing (to me at least) much like the Hindenburg.

so after getting the DLC in the sale and spending some time with the endgame i can pretty easily state that mayhem just kinda sucks. also there are quite a few mechanics from the previous games that are either kinda botched or straight up missing. like is there no health gate anymore? did they remove the whole mechanic where the game dropped more ammo/health depending on what you are missing at the time?

also grenades, shields, and class mods all seem like such a step down.

overall the game is a blast to play but you can definitely tell a lot of the original people behind the series is no longer working on it

I believe the cutoff is greater than 60% health. Reserving health with skills and gear can reduce you below the health gate.
