Oh man, the concept of episode 2 absolutely rules: they find out ghosts are real and realize their original souls are a distinct and separate entity from themselves.

I loved this premise. It seems like such an obvious idea but I don't think I've ever seen this used before, in either a comedy or horror format.

Also I thought the ending shot of the Necromancer using his zombies as slaves to make his keychains was both really funny and super bleak to think about.

This actually struck me for the first time during this episode's opening credits, they show the vampires all changing their clothing styles over the years but we only ever see them in their very Old World outfits on the show.

I think you're remembering that movie very wrongly. He familiar had been with her since he was "her age", which is why the boy becomes her new familiar at the end. he wasn't a pedophile, he had just been in love with her when he was a kid

Maybe I am misremembering the movie, but I remember in the original novel he very much is. Although browsing Wikipedia now, the familiar basically being the original version of the boy seems to be from the remake movie? Like I said it has been a long time since I've seen either movie so maybe it is also stated in the Swedish original. I do remember Let Me In being a pretty good remake, although at the same time close enough to the original that it's pretty redundant unless someone is adamantly against reading subtitles.

It's also funny to think back ten years when vampire movies were still the rage to the degree there would be an American remake of a Swedish one within a year or two. Though I think our current conditions of the extreme elite ruling over us rushing to put people back to work at risk of dying in order to keep enriching themselves is good fodder for a vampire dystopia.

Yeah, I saw the movie around when it came out and loved it. Watched it again a few times since, and when I heard there was going to be a US-made and -set TV show, I was really skeptical, though Matt Berry's involvement is what made me interested enough to check it out. I think from the first episode I was sold. As much as I love the movie I think you can watch the TV show without it and not really miss anything.

The name comes from the fact that the Kevin James CBS show "Kevin Can Wait" decided between seasons to unceremoniously kill off the wife character to bring in Leah Remini in order to try and get some of that King of Queens nostalgia.

Y the comic already had: Republicans attacking Congress to subvert the constitutional transition of power; white feminism being used to reinforce racist patriarchy; far-right border militias; criticism of American involvement in the Middle East and Israeli policies, anti-Russian sentiment, the reveal of a hundred-year old secret society embedded within the security state... I really don't know how you have to add "Trumpian" things to it or how you really even could without making it overtly blatant. And if anything I bet some of those themes in the comic (the main villain being an Israeli soldier, for instance) I'm willing to bet will be stripped down.

I'll agree that I don't think this season is bad at all, and I like that they're changing up the premise a bit, but I also think the show and the characters feel a little different, especially Colin. I'm guessing the fact that Jemaine Clement isn't involved any more probably has something to do with it. But I also really liked the last two episodes, so the show clearly has juice in it.

I went back to rewatch some season 1 episodes and one thing that I realized was that they've never done anything with the reveal of the Baron not actually being dead.

I do wonder if Nandor is going to wind up enjoying being in Iraq and getting his mojo back in that environment... even though he should have known the Hanging Gardens of Babylon are long gone, if they even ever existed.
