 Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu ( lit. "The **** Life of Being Alone") Bocchi Hitori is a girl who suffers from social anxiety, making it hard for her to talk to others. Upon entering middle school, her only friend Kai Yawara, who is attending a different school, tells Bocchi she is breaking off their friendship until she can make friends with her entire class. Thus, Bocchi is left with the task of befriending everyone in her class before graduation. Originally a four-koma manga series by Katsuwo, the anime series is now coming out from studio C2C (who, uh, made that one beach volleyball series I didn't watch), with director Takebumi Anzai (who did some random episodes of some misc shows, and directed some vocaloid-adjacent show I didn't watch). Adaptational duties go to series compositor Jukki Hanada. Who was responsible for, amongst others, Hibike Euphonium, Place Further Than the Universe and Bloom into You......... So, uh, this seems like the safest possible pair of hands for this. Anyway. Hitori Bocchi owns and is great and i's good they're doing an anime for it. I would go as far as to say I might even like it more than Komi-san (which it's very similar to, down to the whole "pun names" thing). Aru is the best character btw edit: Bocchi even has the hair flower thing like Tadano, it's almost hard to believe it's a coincidence

I'm so happy that Bocchi got a well done anime. I just blew through the manga about 3 months ago, and ohhhh my poor heart. Too precious. Too wholesome. It's really excellent and I can't wait to see the rest of the cast animated.

Hitori Bocchi also has the distinction of being the only manga (and now anime) that could be described as being part of the "random cute girls slice of life" genre that I actually like. It has very good humor. The animation overall continues to be a delight to watch. I like the little motion lines from when Aru hops down from sitting on the monkey bars. Aru is a huge loser and I love it.
