I've gotten at least four jobs by just boomer style barging in and demanding an interview.

Three were minimum wage and the fourth treated me like dogshit and unlawfully withheld wages.

My dad's wife is the designated cook. I demand she let me cook a meal every now when I'm visiting and she'll hover to make sure I don't dump in a bunch of spicy stuff. A teaspoon of chilli powder in a jambalaya is 'oh nooo that's going to be very hot outrail!'. She's also mystified by the concept of winging it and can't handle me not not having a recipe. Apparently she follows a recipe for literally everything more complicated than a sandwich and would be at a complete loss is someone stole her books. Her food isn't bad, she just can't improvise or be creative.

That doesn't even include the fact that education, health care, housing, etc. were all cheaper. The minimum wage then was also $10 per hour (adjusted) whereas it's $7.25 now and hasn't increased for 11 years.

Boomers love bitching about problems but straight up refuse to change anything because it's too hard to learn new things.

Our treasurer started acting like a petulant little boy when the rest of the board of directors gave up and started ignoring him during the last board meeting. He refuses to let anyone sign off on invoices because he doesn't trust anyone else, and at the same time simply cannot grasp how the bookkeeping software works despite having the role for over a year so needs to be walked through it every. Single. loving. Time. Every week or so he brings our 30yo executive director to tears (literally) by very slowly explaining that he has a problem with the process but flat out refuses to suggest a fix, just grinding her down with the same dialogue every loving time and that 'we need to fix this'.

It's a reoccurring theme that he (and his wife) spout off on how things need to be done or improved, don't want to pay anyone to do it, but never volunteer to do anything. Last night he says something like 'we can't afford to pay admin to do this thing that needs to be done!', and the chairman snapped back 'OK, you've volunteered to do it report back at the next meeting' and there was a solid ten seconds of silence before he agreed.

And then nobody stood up and clapped but they should have.
