Swimming round a bowl every day not being able to tell what day it is or even if it's night or day cause your light always stays on living in a plastic castle eating food pellets making GBS threads where you breathe repeat. what the hell fish. that's disgusting. also I've never seen fish have sex with each other in the tank so I refuse to believe it happens. that's probably why they're so sad if fish can even experience emotions like that

I imagine some species of fish have a much more mechanical sense of needs than us and are content not to be terrified or hungry I imagine some others have a natural need for novel stimuli and in captivity part of them will always be quietly starved and desperate

Lives in castle, doesn't have sex, poops a lot: pretty much the picture of modern monarchy. Fish should be thanking us, imho.

When an animal outsmarts another animal we think it's nature just being a badass. Somehow this doesn't apply to humans who outsmart all the dumb animals all the time.

I can tell you they don't like getting a metal hook in their mouth and being dragged fighting to a boat only to be yanked out into unbreathable air before being tossed in a tank to be gutted later. But they are yummy so who cares.

Once my dad and I were fishing we had an argument whether fish could feel pain. I thought they could feel pain (same kind of nervous system etc) and he insisted they couldn't. I think his point was their brains were too small and stupid to actually make sense of anything. I still think fish can feel pain but gently caress them

I doubt fish like it. Have you even seen fish have sex? The girl fish just squirts out some eggs then the man fish jerks off all over them eggs and that's it. Come to think of it most animals have pretty lovely sex. Only humans have truly mastered the sacred art of fuckin + truckin.

It’s likely different from what humans feel, but it is still a kind of pain.” this is pretty obvious stuff if you're not already biased against recognizing it, imo and the article tl;dr is that fish do feel pain but nobody is going to care about it because they're not cute and fuzzy like a baby cow

I just spent an hour respooling my reels and sorting out my tackle, this is my favorite time of year. Good luck when you get out there. Also I obviously don't know where you're from but it sounds like up north. Try a rapala jerkbait early on, it was getting crushed last year during April and may.
