I think I won because of three things 1. I was able to use my (Probably slightly overpriced) 5 train to its fullest advantage - by slingshotting my GNWR well into the lead of the second companies. It ended up 6 stock jumps ahead of the other 2nd companies, by the virtue of having 3 extra ORs to run; this is despite it starting at $80 (so two stock jumps behind!). 2. The Es really made their money back in gold for me. I definitely did not have a second safe non-E route so I split a LOT to try to make sure I could get an E in both my GNWR and CNoR. 3. Goose could genuinely have ended the game in OR 8.1 if he had ducked the 6 with GWR - in that case I would have ended up forcebuying the 4 in the PGE in a forlorn attempt to extend the game. Even then, I think the bank would have broken some time during OR2 at that point, and that would have meant that I was a clear 3rd. I'll write up some fuller observations in a bit but I need to go to a friend's house for TM.
