I remember in HS my friend helped me use his dad's copy of Ghost to make an image of my new laptop so I could return it to factory install if I wanted. For some reason that seemed cool I think first we had to track down DOS drivers for the NIC or something crazy. I am still confused why there would be DOS drivers for NICs developed that long after the DOS era

i remember imaging so many computers with ghost back in the 2000s when i worked at a school district. no fancy PXE booting for us or anything though, no, just walking down the line of computers and inserting a floppy (or CD, later) and booting them up.

mainly our lovely partners that give us ghost images to deploy, we could switch to WDS or FOG for our own images but then we'd be supporting 2 deployment stacks there was 5 years where where ghost did not get any updates and we were looking at alternatives, but then ghost 3 came out with support for windows 10, uefi and nvme so it's a good solution again
