a friend wanted me to play valheim and it was only :10bux: :10bux: so sure. And my computer isn't top of the line gaming PC, but it's not a slouch either. And it's loving amazing how piss poor that game runs for something that looks like it came out of a playstation 2, except they tacked on a bunch of post effects like bloom, ssao, motion blur, etc. loving shameful state of affairs

it was a solo project initially, and in the end was shipped into early access by a team of just 5. for something this small it does a ton of poo poo remarkably well, including performance on my old machine

at this point I don't even quickly click out of a tab, I just think "you got me again. you old gaping scamp" and keep reading the page

i had goatse saved to my phone for a long time when i was selling a lot of stuff on fb marketplace and I’d get a lot of scammers texting me. casually scrolling past photos of my kids and pets, completely desensitized to the goat man staring back at me

one time years ago i had the brilliant idea of running my own postfix and dovecot setup. it was a huge pain in the rear end because i wasn't even that good at linux so i was mostly just following tutorials. then it dawned on me that i would need to maintain this horrible thing, so i scrapped the whole idea

they keep passwords on a dozen different pieces of scrap paper in a drawer next to the computer

i use strongbox for ios and macos, keepass on windows, and sync with sync.com
worksforme

syncing to ios requires a manual wifi sync, but the amount of new things i sign up for these days is close to zero, so i don't really need to update it that often

react also has a function called dangerouslySetInnerHTML and i see it used all the time

quote:

In general, setting HTML from code is risky because it’s easy to inadvertently expose your users to a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack. So, you can set HTML directly from React, but you have to type out dangerouslySetInnerHTML and pass an object with a __html key, to remind yourself that it’s dangerous.

you have to make the fake answer to the security question at least somewhat plausible because of sites that list them all out as multiple choice

is it possible to make a hash of a string that ends up being the same as the string itself

polyester concept

Jabor posted:

if by "string" you mean "arbitrary byte sequence of the same length as the hash" then statistically there's likely to be a string that hashes to itself

you probably can't find it in any way other than brute-forcing the entire input space though

that’s what I meant yeah

I wonder how long it would take with something like md5
